Sorry for bombarding you with yet more Unravel in the space of two days, but get a load of this new trailer. Every time I see this game I just want it more and more. This time it's developer Coldwood Interactive with a dev diary chatting about how they came up with the inspiration for Yarny, Unravel’s woolly hero.
He’s a little fluffy thing you see, with a loose thread trailing behind him that constantly unravels. Creative director Martin Sahlin says this is to represent the bonds we form with people in life. “What if we could make a game about love?,” he says. “A game where the bonds we form with other people were actual, real physical bonds, like strands of yarn. And what if you could play as a character that was actually made from that stuff?”
Whatever you make of that, it certainly opens the door for some intriguing platforming mechanics, with the unravelling Yarny using his lost outards (new word, deal with it) to create trapezes, catapults, and cranes.
Earlier this week the system requirements for Unravel arrived, so you can check them out ahead of its February 9th launch to make sure your rig’s up to the task.
