Shawn Fonteno, the actor behind Grand Theft Auto V’s Franklin, has sparked rumours of imminent single-player DLC coming to Rockstar’s open-world behemoth. A new Instagram post by Fonteno shows the voice and motion-capture artist say in a full mo-cap suit at the Rockstar offices.
Despite Grand Theft Auto 5 shifting more than 54 million copies and becoming the fourth best-selling game of all time, additional content has been conspicuous by its absence. Single-player content anyway, because there’s been heaps of new bits and bobs added to the Grand Theft Auto Online component, which presumably has gathered quite a following.
The official word from Rockstar was that it had no plans to launch any single-player DLC whatsoever, but Fonteno’s picture has understandably got fans hyped that Rockstar could have done a u-turn.
"Right now our focus is on GTA Online which has exceeded our expectations," said Rockstar design director Imran Sarwar. "We currently have all key members of the team that launched Grand Theft Auto 5 focused on supporting GTA Online in every capacity".
Honest it feels a little late in the day for more GTA 5. Everyone and their dog has already played through it and put it down for months, if not years, and Rockstar would be better served by a full-blown sequel or a new game entirely. I think it’s more in the realms of possibility to expect a GTA 5 pseudo-sequel like Vice City and San Andreas were to GTA III.
Would you be keen for a GTA 5 expansion? Where would you like to see Rockstar take it?
