Quantum Break, Scalebound And Gears Of War 4 All Confirmed For PC

I had written up and prepared an entire article about a rumour that Quantum Break was coming to PC day and date with Xbox One. Well I've basically had to burn that into smithereens, because Microsoft has gone and absolutely trumped that news with the announcement that not one, not two, but three upcoming Xbox One exclusives will be launching on PC.

They aren't messing around here either. This trio are big hitters. It's Quantum Break, Scalebound and Gears of War 4. That's three absolutely huge Xbox One exclusives coming to PC, with at least one coming day and date with the console version.

There is a catch though, fellow PC gamers. Microsoft owns the rights to these IP, so it looks as if these particular titles will be Windows 10 Store exclusive. That means no Steam versions. Having seen the mess Microsoft made of GFWL, it most definitely sets alarm bells ringing.

The news follows a leak from the Brazil Advisory Rating Board indicating Remedy had Quantum Break rated for both Xbox One and PC in the territory. At the time we assumed that just meant it would eventually be coming eventually, but all signs are now pointing to it being with us in just eight weeks time.

But why the secrecy? Understandably Microsoft wants to use it shift Xbox Ones. By now, there’s probably plenty of gamers who have already bought their console who did so in order to play these three games. I know I very nearly did.

It will have helped out with sales, but there’s also another, larger point to consider. Rise of the Tomb Raider, despite being an awesome game, tanked fairly hard when it launched as an Xbox One exclusive. Estimates put total Xbox One console sales in the region of 18 million, which severely limits how many given people are going to buy a game. Widen the net and include PC gamers, and suddenly you potentially have a market of hundreds of millions. It would make a bigger splash if Quantum Break, Scalebound and Gears of War 4 arrived on both platforms, possibly at the same time, and all the coverage could even boost Xbox One sales. Win / Win for Microsoft, surely?

Quantum Break, Scalebound and Gears of War 4 for PC then, are you in? Would the use of the Windows 10 Store put you off after gamers being stung big time by Games For Windows Live? Let us know!

UPDATE: Gamespot has since retracted its story and said the Gears of War 4 and Scalebound info was released by mistake. Make of that what you will!

For PS fanboys it is even worse, since they can't even get to play it on their precious console and they are too stubborn to switch to PC they keep bashing the game. Don't get me wrong, i would want them to have it in PS4 too but their behaviour is insufferable. Anything on PS is instant GOTY and anything that isn't on PS is worst game ever.

I don't get why people just don't like multiple platforms like me, I personally like each and every platform(except the Wii, that I find boring and stupid with those motion sensor controllers).

Also the post above just admited that Microsoft don't care about their console anymore :D
So if Nintendo doesn't get their sh*t together, then Sony will be left all alone next gen, here comes a monopoly. :D

consoles are great, people can build hate towards anything now, its so weird, consoles arent holding any graphics back, you could make agame look awfull on console and spike the settings on pc, we havent reached the finincial point where we get real life looking graphics, youd need a CPU as quick as a human brain.

The only game I would have bought an xb1 for is now confirmed to be heading to the best platform to play on PC, now there is no reason for the xb1!

After realizing that Microsoft will be the only ones distributing these games I began getting flashbacks of GFWL, and it's not worth the headache!

I think I'll avoid the xb1 and Microsoft's pc gaming distribution, and I advise everyone else to do the same, if you don't wish to be burnt out of your money!

May as well chuck my Xbox One at this point. Seriously, is there even a point to owning an Xbox One anymore? Thanks for making me waste nearly $1000 Microsoft

Also for anyone wondering. The $1000 is in AUD and because the Xbox itself cost $600 at the time of purchase and and games cost $80

I love all of this, but I'm really worried about having to play it through Win 10 store. I'm just now forgetting that GFWL ever existed, and now we might have a sequel. I really hope MS has fixed a lot of the issues that GFWL suffered. Still, I'm super pumped for Quantum Break. That game looks sick.

Not really. PC and Xbox are marketed towards two totally different types of people.

indeed, I agree, but at this point I don't see the appeal of Xbox one compared to the PS4, especially when many people that game nowadays have multiple platforms.

With the Xbox One specifically you have a fair point. The Xbox and the Xbox 360 did things that were straight up better, but the Xbox One was hindered by design. And Naturally, PS4 not only caught up, it took the lead.

actually the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 in the end.

It's cheaper, it's techtarded friendly, third party devs get better security w/o DRM control on their end, and it's on a TV instead of a monitor (usually).

And most importantly, they have a monopoly over that, which is what worries me about they shutting down xbox, they woul then try to replicate as much as they could, the closed sistem they had with their console. And they already started, windows 10 store exclusives.

well yes, but to be honest if the xbox one's exclusives get ported to windows, they are no longer exclusives and that just removes all kind of interest towards the Xbox one compared to the PS4, since nowadays many people play multiplatform and usually have PC even if it's not a really good one.

Agreed, I like exclusives coming to PC, but I'm not sure if we want that much of MS's attention. I wonder how long is going to take for them to announce Halo is coming back to PC.
