It's flying very low under the radar right now, but Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is sprouting in a week's time. The last one was an under-appreciated gem, and was a great third-person shooter take on the eternal battle between walking foliage and the undead.

Built in the same Frostbite engine powering Star Wars Battlefront, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is also quite a looker. The super stylised visuals help this 24-player online shooter really stand out from the crowd. If you have any seeds of doubt about whether PvZ: Garden Warfare 2 will run on your system though, be sure to check out the official system requirements.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-650 3.2 GHz or AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core 2.5 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB System Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GT 640 or Radeon HD 5750
  • HDD: 20 GB Available Space
  • DX: DirectX 11

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-6600 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 290
  • HDD: 40 GB Available Space
  • DX: DirectX 11.1

Clearly Popcap has got its hands on bags and bags of fertiliser, because these system requirements for Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 have absolutely shot up in comparison to its predecessor. It should be stressed however that the minimum requirements are still pretty reasonable, but should you want to turn on every graphical option you're going to need to have the hardware to back at it up.

Down at the lower end these are a reasonable set of minimum specs for PvZ: Garden Warfare 2. Remember as well this is a large-scale third-person multiplayer shooter rather than the top down tower defense of the mainline series, which makes it a heck of a lot more demanding. Still, both the GeForce GT 640 and the Radeon HD 5750 are extremely low-end graphics cards by today's standards, so you're unlikely to bump into many problems. The processors are a bit more an issue, but a decent dual-core CPU should suffice.

All in all, those minimum specs are alright. Take a glance at the recommended specs for Garden Warfare 2 however and everything changes. This is a bit of a beastly setup here, and it's the latest in an increasingly long line of titles demanding users have 16GB RAM. Gulp. Windows 10 is recommended, while EA and Popcap plump for the latest generation of Skylake CPUs wit the Core i5-6600 processor.

Interestingly the installation size is doubled for recommended, suggesting there's some higher resolution textures tucked away in an optional installation. The 20GB difference is nothing to sniff at.

Obviously there's a massive gulf between the minimum and recommended specs for Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, suggesting this is one game designed to work on a massive variety of gaming rigs. Once things get hectic those with a steady frame rate are going to have a significant advantage, so it will be worth dialling a few settings down if your PC's struggling a little.

Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 benchmark chart.

Do you remember BF4 crysis and Tomb raider that could be maxed out with a 7870/660 ?
Now why all games have so big demands for no reason?

I think it's good to have a big gap between the minimum and the recommended requirements. this way people with weak setups can still enjoy the game.

And people with beast rigs are awarded with better textures. As example cod bo3, my friends can't play it but I can max it out.

Well that's the problem. If they actually made a difference between the settings a wider variety of PC's would be able to play the game.

Lol... People said Quantum Break was over demanding :'D
(Although it should also not be needing 16 GB. 12 GB must be good)
