Good news, vault dwellers, Fallout 4 will be getting proper mod tools and support this coming April! On PC anyway, with Xbox One mods due in May and PlayStation 4 getting them a month later. Up until now we’ve had to make do with pretty low-key affairs when it comes to modding, such as minor character and ini tweaks, but once the Fallout 4 Creation Kit is in gamers’ hands then things begin to get serious.

Of the periodic release schedule, Bethesda director Todd Howard said "We want to get it up on PC and have it work. It'll probably be a good month before it hits Xbox One, and another month for PlayStation 4." I should clarify as well, that's mod support on consoles, not the modding tools. Mod tools will only be available on PC.

Once the tools drop we should begin seeing more extensive mods, including new landmasses, quest-lines, weapons and more. At the moment it’s still not entirely clear how Bethesda is hoping to manage mods on the consoles, but I’ll be the first in line to pull up a chair, grab a bag of popcorn, and watch the carnage unfold.

That’s not all for Bethesda’s future plans for Fallout 4 either. As the developer said previously it’s got some serious ideas for a revamped Survival mode, and PC gamers should be getting a chance to test this very soon. There’s also extensive DLC plans to look forward to, beginning with Automatron in March and followed up by Wasteland Workshop in April and the frighteningly good sounding Far Harbor in May.

Plenty more to come from Fallout 4 then, but has lived up to your expectations? Do you expect yourself to keep playing when the new content drops?

Iirc, console mods are pretty much unrestricted. If you know what you're doing; good, you can mod it until your xbone sets fire.

Just don't expect to see any ENB mods or texture mods. Anything visual is going to lead to a degradation in performance as they are performance taxing mods.

They will probably just get workshop stuff, new weapons, armors, etc. but it's better than nothing. I doubt Bethesda will allow anything that requires a script extender or changes visuals.
