Get out the way Quantum Break, you’re old news now. There’s a new boss in town in the shape of Alan Wake’s Return. You see, Remedy Entertainment, they of Alan Wake fame, are seemingly not content with busting a gut and getting Quantum Break out in April for both PC and Xbox One, but are also making moves on a sequel to my favourite torch-wielding author who's haunted by demonic spirits. We've all got one.

The news comes courtesy of a trademark filed just three days ago over at the European Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market site. It looks as if Remedy applied for Alan Wake’s Return on February 23rd, fast tracking the registration process and trademarking it for use with games software, television productions, toys and more.

With Quantum Break having gone gold already, that’s a fairly large indicator that Remedy is considering a sequel to the cult classic Alan Wake. The original was by no means a bestseller, but it’s certainly gained quite a following so it’s easy to see why Microsoft and Remedy would be considering this.

It’s not the first we’ve heard of an Alan Wake sequel either of course. Remedy creative director Sam Lake said late last an Alan Wake 2 would arrive eventually, but it seemed but it seem pie in the sky stuff with Quantum Break just around the corner.

Could have thought of a better name though, eh?

I'm so excited! Alan Wake is my favorite game ever and I've been waiting for the sequel for forever. I've beaten the game three times and read the book twice. What's awesome is that that Remedy filed the trademark on my birthday :)

I LOVED the original Alan Wake (wasn't too fond of the American Nightmare expansion), replayed it twice even.

It's definitely one of those games that are in dire need of a sequel. Would prefer if it wasn't an Xbox exclusive this time around though.
