That lucky lot over in Japan receive Dark Souls 3 today. We thought staggered worldwide release dates were pretty much a thing of the past, but they’re going to have three full weeks to plunder the depths of FromSoftware’s latest before it launches worldwide.

It explains why we’ve got our hands on the Dark Souls III launch trailer so early, just to rub our noses in what we’re missing out on. And what we’re missing looks pretty damn glorious. You know the rigmarole by now. It’s you against a legion of bosses resembling something that’s been dwelling down a plughole for aeons, but this time it’s on the swanky new upgraded engine which powered the rather-lovely-in-its-own-disgusting-way Bloodborne.

If you’ve got an Xbox One then there’s also a trick for playing it early if you so wish. It takes a little bit of work and requires creating a dummy account from Japan to buy the game, but it lets you download Dark Souls 3 early from your local Xbox store and in your local language. There’s two ways to do it, found here and here.

Dark Souls 3 is out today and Japan and on April 12th for the rest of the world. Not long to go now friends, keep strong.

This is really BS from them, the game is clearly done, they gave access to streamer, yt, xone, and japanese, it's a really d**k move to all the people who bought it in the world.
