Quantum Break Dev Remedy Monitoring Widespread Issues with PC Version

System Requirements Optimum 1080p PC Build Low vs Ultra Screenshots GPU Performance Chart CPU List That Meet System Requirements GPU List That Meet System Requirements

It seems you’re not a proper AAA game these days unless you royally cock up your PC launch with performance problems and bizarre oversights. Quantum Break is most definitely no different, although I guess we shouldn’t be all that surprised considering the PC version wasn’t even announced this time two months ago.

There’s a number of teething issues for Windows 10 Store release then, ranging from choppy performance to G-Sync troubles and SLI nightmares. Rest assured though, Remedy has its eye on the situation, taking to the GAF of all places to respond to the backlash, saying “We are monitoring the discussion and what is going on. I had written a longer response, but it’s just gonna be misunderstood etc, so what I will say is that, rest assured, lot of of work went into the Win10 version and we are looking at the reactions now as well as potential issues.”

The issues are fairly widespread and unfortunately it doesn’t look as if there’s any through-line to connect them. Some people with GTX 980’s have reported FPS dropping below 30 on Low settings, while there’s the usual gamut of Windows Store issues that seems to affect every game that crops up there. It’s not like Quantum Break is the greatest looking game ever, despite those sky-high system requirements.

Last but not least it looks as if Quantum Break is being upscaled from 720p, whatever native resolution you‘re trying to run at, lending a slightly fuzzy image quality.

Not a great start then, but at least Remedy is taking the first steps to tackle these problems. Unfortunately it’s becoming all too commonplace with Windows Store games, which doesn’t bode well for the future. Fingers crossed Microsoft can get its arse in gear.

Good job Remedy. I quickly got used to the idea that I would never play Quantum Break, since I have never owned a console and most likely never will.
This last minute announcement was shady enough and now there is another broken ass garbage available. Did not buy it, and seems like am not going to in the future as well.

Shame on you for teaming up with Microsoft in the first place, SHAME!

From what Remedy has been saying, it sounds like a lot of this falls on MS and UWP. With everything I've been hearing, it sounds like UWP is just another GFWL. I just don't understand why MS doesn't put their games on Steam. Sad. Cause I would have bought it on Steam, but I'm not dealing with UWP.

M$ is too greedy to let valve get a cut. They want to monopolize everything

MS is trying to replicate Steam, Origin, Uplay, etc. It's about controlling content. I agree they have proven they lack the vision or know how to make a store.

Microsoft is with W10 trying to monopolize the everything related to PC, so that everything goes exactly and only through them. They have always tried to fight Steam, to have us all PC gamers inside their hands so they can milk us and do whatever they want to do.

I don't even care anymore. PC games these days are usually broken on release.

It took me almost two days to get Quantum Break downloaded because of Windows Store issues. The game itself runs pretty good at 1440p/ultra but there's too much stuttering. that's the main thing that needs to be fixed.

Its really hard now when you are low on sells and you cant blame pirates. Now you actually have to optimize your games and make them playable.

The pirates actually found an exploit to play it...

This is becoming a joke, more and more devs, even ones known to be PC friendly are making incomplete games or lack any testing before releasing on PC.

Later all we get is "Whoops, we'll fix that in a month or two or six, or whenever we feel like, we have bonuses to spend, holidays to go on.... It could take a while...."

You say that as if developing a PC game is easy. Yes, some devs to release obviously incomplete games, but Quantum Break, aside from the afformentioned SLI and G-Sync issues (Neither of which I am affected by, by the way), is a complete game as far as I care.

I am curious to the conditions of those GTX980 30 FPS complaints, because I'm running on a GTX 970 medium settings (as mentioned by this very site that I should), and I'm getting 60 FPS.

Anyway, the point is, not all bugs will be found before release. There will always be a few issues after release that need to be patched. Nothing's perfect.

With a GTX 970 you should run it at ultra settings at full HD, if you can't either game is poorly optimized or your PC has some problems.

I'll admit the game isn't as well optimized as it could have been, and that I would have liked to play it at higher settings, but you know what? I can't, so I sucked it up and got on with my life.

It's not just the bugs, its also that Devs don't seem to even bother to optimize for the PC before release, and it is seemingly getting worse and worse.

Gone are the times where you could get a game and it would work well almost always barr a few games, now it's the complete opposite.

Now you are almost certainly gonna get badly optimized games and very few are the exception.

I mean just look at the last few years, besides Gameworks, Ubisoft has been making badly optimized games almost accross the board, and even Arkham Knight suffered from Horrible optimization, a game series previously known to run well on systems.

It seems like game devs are lining up to take the next crown for the worst optimized game.

Okay rant over. (Phew)

Getting used to hearing AAA devs mess up their games. They don't care about PC. and even these sky high sys requirements are just because of devs are too lazy to optimize their goddamn game and find a sweet spot for the sys requirements....

So just because I don't mind using the Windows Store as long as it lets me download games in a playable state (All of which have been, just because it doesn't work for one person, doesn't mean it won't work for someone else), I lack common sense? I have plenty of common sense, but instead of whinging and crying when something doesn't work, I try to fix the problem, like an adult.

That's all fair and good, you trying to fix the problem, but here's the kicker...... You shouldn't need to do what the devs should have already done, and that's release a working, optimized game.

Plently have done it before, so it can be done.

I'm not saying I have the skills to make a game (I have no clue) but games, like any other product, should be in correct working order.

I just feel like the term "incomplete" is inaccurate for this game. I personally think it's complete. The gameplay, story, and live-action webseries is all there, it's just not as well optimized as it could be. Is it a bit buggy? Yes, there a few bugs/optimization issues here and there. Is it unplayable? Well....no, at least not for me. You would have seen the same level of optimisation on Steam, perhaps minus a few Windows store-specific issues.

You're just contradicting yourself there, the term "complete" when used for games, includes optimisation, its part of the development process, or at least it used to be.

Seems to me most devs have done some rearrangements, and the optimisation teams had to go to make room for a bigger advertising team.

I gotta admit though, the ads have gotten better.

Remedy should have taken lessons from Rockstar Games with GTA V, which was refined to absolute perfection for the PC platform. GTA 5 was so well optimized that even my old pair of GTX 550 ti cards were pushed beyond their 1GB VRAM limits!

Everything about Windows 10 is a lie, it doesn't have any advantages over older Windows versions, it just has more baits. DX12? Barely any game uses it and Vulcan is better at everything compared to DX12. Mobile games? Windows 8.1 has better mobile game support. Xboxone games? You can buy Xbox games yet you can't play them, doesn't make a huge difference. Fast booting? It is called sleep mode. Edge? It is Internet Explorer in disguise, as a Mozilla Firefox user i see no reason to use it. They are giving Windows 10 for free because no sane person would buy it.

Windows updates not installing and forcing my pc to auto restart every few hour because it thinks its not being used even if im in a game and a lot of display driver issues
