After all and sundry proclaimed Red Dead Redemption to be the second coming of Rockstar, we’ve been impatiently twiddling our revolvers and awaiting a PC port. Such a thing has never, and, from the looks of things, will never happen, but console yourself with the knowledge that Red Dead Redemption 2 is almost certainly a thing that’s happening. The latest leak is regarding the map, which a number of sources have verified is very much the real deal.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Leaked Map

Red Dead Redemption Original Map

According to reports this is a “very recent” direction for Red Dead Redemption 2’s map, so it’s looking as if this is close to a final approximation. From the looks of things the map ties in slightly to the original RDR, splintering off north and east from the Great Plains and Flat Iron Lake segment which sat in the North-East corner. Comparing the two it looks as if Red Dead Redemption 2’s map may be marginally larger, but there’s no much in it, truth be told.

Aside from the map there are also reports that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be a prequel. If I was a betting man I’d hazard a guess it centres around John Marston’s time in Dutch’s gang. We’ve heard reports before that a Red Dead sequel would revolve around rival cowboy posses and this lends credence to those claims.

That’s your lot for now, but I reckon it would pay to keep a close eye on E3 this year, where Red Dead publisher Take Two Interactive has said it will have sizeable presence. It’s coming up to three years since Grand Theft Auto V launched, so it’s about time Rockstar surprised us with something new. Just make it’s coming to PC this time though, eh Rockstar?
