Clearly Firaxis wasn’t enjoying Stellaris soaking in the glory of its 4X success, because publisher 2K has spoiled the party and announced Civilization VI. It’s been six years since the last mainline Civilization game, and Civ VI once more tasks players with building and expanding a great empire across huge maps.
From the sounds of things there’s a number of key changes for the sequel, including cities which physically expand and envelope more of map. Different districts of a city will operate on different tiles depending on population, with cities maxing out at 12 distinct districts.
“Sid Meier’s Civilization VI builds on the firm foundation of the Civilization franchise, and we’ve added many exciting new elements,” said Ed Beach, lead designer at Firaxis Games. “The visual presentation of the game is inspired by the maps and tools of the Age of Exploration, and we’ve made several key gameplay changes such as expansive cities and active research that makes Sid Meier’s Civilization VI an entirely unique experience while remaining true to what makes the Civilization series so special.”
Civilization VI is coming to PC on October 21st.

Remember belligerent ones, in such strategy games try and arrange it (through diplomacy) so that you are only ever at war with one opponent at a time, this will make it more likely you'll survive. :)

Gotta say, not loving the way it looks. I would much prefer it to look more like the image at the top of this article. Still pretty excited though.

I agree on the looks not being so impressive; too cartoony, almost like Civ Revolutions which I hated. Still, if they made the diplomacy more in depth, trade more important for technological development in the modern era, and kept the minor civilizations system then it should great to play.

Well, there goes my life. I should inform my wife and kids to get a replacement; it's only fair....

Those screenshots look gorgeous. I keep trying to get into Civ 5, but I end up failing more times than success, which then makes me not wanna play. Maybe Civ 6 will be a better entry point for me.
