There are heaps of rumours flying around about Rockstar at the moment, but one that just won’t go away is regarding a potentially imminent new game reveal. We thought E3 could perhaps be the place, however numerous reports suggested Rockstar pulled out at the last minute due to events happening Stateside. Now the latest is a possible reveal for Red Dead Redemption 2 at Gamescom in August.

Publisher Take-Two Interactive has confirmed it will be at Gamescom in Cologne following an E3 no-show. Take-Two has plenty of other wares to show off at the event, including the likes of Civilization VI, Mafia 3 and the BioShock collection, but all eyes are inevitably on what it has planned with Rockstar.

Numerous leaks for a Red Dead three-quel have surfaced over the year, including a full scan of the game’s map, and details from Rockstar insiders concerning a massive open-world with rival cowboy gangs battling for territory.

There’s not a whiff of Red Dead 3 in any of Take-Two’s financial projections however, although president Karl Slatoff does forecast major revenue spikes for the 2018 fiscal year, which runs from April 2017 onwards. Could this be the new referring to the new Rockstar game we’re waiting for?

“Looking ahead, we expect to grow Non-GAAP revenues and earnings in fiscal 2018, based on our robust development plan that extends well beyond the current fiscal year,” said CEO Strauss Zelnick during a company earnings call a few months ago. ”Rockstar Games is of course hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon." Just how soon is ‘soon’ remains the question, but Gamescom 2016 could well be the time to find out more. It runs from August 17th through to 21st.
