I’m a bit of a Nintendo fanboy at heart, so when this popped in my timeline my face pretty much imploded. Out of nowhere Nintendo started partying like it’s 1983 and announced the NES Classic Mini edition. A pint-sized version of Nintendo’s classic console which preceded the SNES, it comes with a bundle of 30 different games built into it and a classic NES controller, all for the princely sum of $59.99.

Updated for 2016, the NES Mini does away with the old AV analog hook-up and replaces it with full HDMI. It also comes with a major modern convenience - Suspend points. That means that like with emulators you can save at any modern, doing away with keeping piles of passwords lying around for when you want to continue.

Somewhat embarrassingly, Nintendo has pulled a 3DS with this one, once more opting to not include the USB power adapter required to power the device. Instead, you'll have to buy one separately or use one you've got kicking about. Not what you need when you tear it open on Christmas morning.

The NES Classic Edition is due to launch on November 11th in the US and Europe.

Anyone keen to pick one of these up?
