Painterly psychological horror game Layers of Fear is set to get a fresh coat of torment next week with the launch of its first expansion - Inheritance. The main game was all about poking around a creepy old mansion while your fragile mind melted away like watercolours down a drain, with twisted visions and jump scares aplenty. Layers of Fear: Inheritance is set to continue this horrific tale, putting the player in the shoes of the painter’s daughter, who turns up to the family mansion to uncover the truth.
Light spoilers for the base game obviously, but she’ll get to uncover what really happened to her family in this torrid place. Whether she can ever forgive her father for the horrors remains to be seen though…
The clown has me slightly worried. Inheritance looks like a neat twist on Layers of Fear’s formula, with some uncomfortable themes of powerlessness and childhood.
Layers of Fear: Inheritance is out on August 2nd, priced at a very reasonable $4.99. It’ll required the base game to play.
Anyone picking up their paintbrush once again next week?
