Ahhh, the Cossacks series. For strategy gamers kicking about over the turn of the century it no doubt holds a fond place in their hearts. It certainly does mine, although I doubt time has been kind. After more than a decade away it's back though with Cossacks 3. Similar in style to the classic Age of Empires games, Cossacks 3 is all about base building, resource gathering, and, most importantly, epic battles. Players have thousands of units at their fingertips, with Cossacks 3 placing the emphasis on Total War-style unit formations and terrain height advantages. It's out in September, but before you stride into battle see if your gaming PC is up to the task with the official Cossacks 3 system requirements.

- GPU: GeForce 8800 GTS or AMD Radeon HD 2600 Pro
- HDD: 4 GB available space
- DX: DirectX 9.0c
Cossacks 3 Recommended System Requirements

There's nothing quite like a real-time strategy game to make your computer feel like a beast. Despite battles involving potentially thousands of on-screen units, the system requirements remain mercifully low. In fact, the minimum system requirements for Cossacks 3 point towards practically any PC from the last decade being capable of running it. That does come with a caveat though - minimum requirements are good for 1024 x 768 resolution, for all you square monitored loons out there.
Really just about everything there required to run Cossacks 3 is just about as low as you're getting to get in this day and age. Skirt the minimum requirements and it may start looking like Cossacks 2 at that point, but you're not going to miss out on all the strategic action.
In comparison the recommended requirements to play Cossacks 3 are a huge leap up, but by today's standards not an issue for most. A decent quad-core processor and a mid-tier 4-year-old graphics card is only really necessary if you want to crank up every setting to the max at 1080p. With that in mind it looks as if there's going to be plenty of scalable options to get Cossacks 3 working on a wide variety of systems.
Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the Cossacks 3 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Cossacks 3 benchmark chart.

Cossacks 1 was good game. Liked it a lot. Cossacks 2 took out good parts from the original and simplified the rest. Like the direction new Cossacks took. As far as system requirements goes i think they are more then acceptable.

hmm this could be really nice RTS game to play, Empire Earth II and Age Of Empires III are getting really old and there's no great successor so far

aoe3 was never a good enough successor to aoe2 for me. The changes in that game were drastic and the campaign just wasn't enjoyable. What's more, the game's multiplayer was never that great to begin with while we had the msn zone for aoe2 until that went down. aoe3 got old really fast and never really caught on while people still play aoe2. btw try Homeworld Deserts of Kharak which is pretty great.

I swear, every time I've decided I've spent enough money on games and that I'm getting too old to responsibly buy this many games.. some company comes up with another game that gets me all hyped up.
Why?!
My bank account doesn't deserve this.

The Darkside is happy for you

I have doubts that I will be be able to run this, but it's cool to know that I am good!

Well this is NOT like Ages of Empire at all... this is a really economic driven RTS, at least the Cossacks 2 was.

Yeah, you may be right there. I only played Cossacks 1 which you can see here is fairly AoE-like https://youtu.be/xfRvEl9x0-M
But when I look at Cossacks 2 it's very different.

I have only played the second Cossacks game, IDK about the first, but it is different indeed, who knows what the third one will be like NOT on paper.

the economy is a bit similar to age of empires but the units? no way, cossacks has so many on screen, aoe devs would have a heart attack just looking at that. but aoe is a lot more mechanic-driven with a huge unit variety and so many perks across all civilizations plus microing actually matters since you're usually playing with a handful of units unless your opponent let you get really fat. suffice to say, cossacks is a lot more economy driven than aoe ever was.
