FIFA 17 System Requirements Take A Leap With Move To Frostbite Engine

FIFA's back, and unlike PES we're not being left behind our console counterparts for this outing on PC. FIFA 17 moves the entire game over to the very same Frostbite engine used to power Battlefield 1, Mirror's Edge Catalyst and Mass Effect Andromeda, to name but a few. Dropping the Ignite engine, FIFA 17 promises to be the best looking version of FIFA yet. It comes at a cost though, with FIFA 17 raising the bar for the series' system requirements.

FIFA 17 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 3.1 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon R7 260
  • HDD: 50 GB available space
  • DX: DirectX 11

FIFA 17 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-3550 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8150 3.6 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon R9 270
  • HDD: 50 GB available space

Compare these to the system requirements for last year's FIFA 16 and you can see these are a generational leap. Fortunately they still aren't anything major to worry about. Minimum CPU demands for FIFA 17 remain much the same, although we see a slightly bump up in terms of graphics cards.

The big changes down at the low-end are reserved for installation size and memory required however. FIFA 17 requires a massive 50GB hard drive space compared to 15GB for FIFA 16, while RAM shoots up to 8GB minimum from 4GB last year. Hopefully that signals the arrival of some much higher resolution textures in FIFA 17.

There's not a huge gulf between the minimum and recommended requirements for FIFA 17 either. Both the GTX 660 and the R9 270 are mid-range by today's standards, suggesting 2GB VRAM is optimal for maxing FIFA 17 out. The processors are a little on the high-end, but the glacial movement of CPU upgrades from both Intel and AMD means most PC gamers should have this covered.

Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the FIFA 17 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the FIFA 17 benchmark chart.

This might get me some downvotes, but i really want to say this.
Hopefully players with a crap computer now will not get the game launched.
Since its a pain to play against players with a crap pc online.
Maybe the players i play against do use a lag player, but in my opinion there are still players left that dont know what kind of hardware they have and then still buy fifa regardless..

That's crap connection, nothing to do with hardware. This happens on consoles as well. EA servers are just bad with a mix of users having terrible connection is just a really bad combination. Doubt it will be fixed in this FIFA installment so good luck.

You should be able to. That if you keep everything on low and select a lower resolution...you should get over 30fps. Saying this from experience with other games like Fallout 4 or Watch Dogs and other games, the only problem I had was the RAM which caused stuttering, not a problem for you of course.

Actually, your resolution is already pretty low so you won't have a problem with that.

I mean, what's the point of frostbite if there's no destruction or explosions to show it's full potential :P

Or aliens coming in on Spaceships and playing super-football XD, like Space Jam i guess.
But the anime called Inazuma Eleven would be an even better comparison

I guess no kidding man, Games nowadays need that. A football game with online connection and roster updates with battlefield engine sure would be that tough

ikr XD 50GB for a football game just doesn't make sense.... Games bigger and better are half the size of FIFA 17

Then I think it might mean 2 things: 1st.: Fifa 17 will be better, because they actually put some work into it this is why it's 50GB and it has bigger requirements and uses a stable engine so we have hope :D. 2nd.: the game is badly optimized, and the same sh** that we got with the latest Fifa games.

Even though im with the #****onami "thing", i admire PES, only thing wrong is that they fck up the graphics for the PC and the consoles, why cant the master-race get what they want :(

In what universe is a i5-3550 considered a high end cpu? I got an i5 2500, which is 1% worse than 3550 according to GD and it's definitely not a high end cpu. Maybe it was at some point and it's still good but not high end.

They're not, I just said they're a little high in comparison to the rest of the components. As I go on to say, most people will have this covered due to slow movement of CPU advancements.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but BF1 will feature much higher requirements. You can't really compare a soccer simulator with a fully fledged shooter like Battlefield in terms of graphical prowess.

Maybe it will feature much higher sys req but i will run it anyway on high because thats happened with battlefront, but if i remember correctly battlefront ran on my pc almost everything ultra no AA on my current resolution with no lag i think 40-50+ fps so i dont even care if bf1 will require "2 gpus" because the engine itself its amazing and DICE knows how to optimize.

I admire your optimism, but I don't think it will play out like this. I just don't see you running BF1 on your current rig at high settings while achieving playable frames. Only time will tell I guess! :p

Well thank you because you admire my optimism :D and you will see that it will run just like battlefront did.
BF4 run worse on my rig than battlefront still BF4 graphics are worse...how can you explain that?you cant, its because DICE optimized the engine.

EDIT:Ive found a video of BF1 alpha with this rig: i3-3240+GTX650 1GB+8GB RAM,he is playing on medium with terrain and effects on high.

Average FPS is 40,his resolution is 1122x840,so worse CPU and GPU than mine still playing it good and its ALPHA.
Another one with intel i3 4430 is getting 60-80 FPS average but on low with 1920x1080

You should have disabled v-sync, a 970 gets between 60-80 fps in bf1

i never play with v-sync on anyways, i just cap my fps at 75 because i overclocked my monitor to 75hz
