The latest Humble Bundle has arrived, and it’s got all sorts of goodies for those who like hitting rocks with sticks until they can get enough rock to tie to their stick and make a rock-stick. I’m talking about survival games of course. Man (or woman) against nature with nothing but a loincloth to defend their nether regions.
No less than seven of the little buggers are bundled in, including the ever popular Rust. Being largely pure survival games though, steel yourself for lots of Early Access roughness. For the most part these aren’t the finished product, but instead ever evolving works in progress.
Down at the $1 tier we’ve got Tharsis, Savage Lands and Kholat. The first is actually a fairly nifty turn-based strategy game, while Kholat has Sean Bean narrating a horror adventure based on true events in the Russian mountains of Dyatlov Pass. Savage Lands meanwhile is proper Early Access. It’s an online fantasy game where players can craft items, build villages and try to conquer its vast lands.
Moving up to the beat the average tier, which currently sits at $5.24, you get access to Space Engineers, Rust and Shelter 2. If you’re into survival games then this a fine trio, although I suspect most who want Rust already have it.
Last but not least is Planetbase. That can be had for $14, and tasks players with building a functioning colony on a remote platform. It got absolutely stellar reviews, so strategy fans would do well to take a look.

I own Rust. I am interested in Space Engineers; and I don't know anything about Shelter 2. Should I get the BTA bundle? Or is the $1 more than enough?

Space Engineers has a super awesome modding community in the Steam Workshop and the developers (Keen Software House) are pretty great as well, they release an update video every Thursday! For that price I highly recommend it :)

I booted up The Forest for the first time after taking a break. My awesome house got corrupted. Everything is the same, but the door got replaced with a wall. I ate a lizard the size of my torso and pondered at how awkward the situation really was. :|
