Gears of War 4 System Requirements Revealed - Extreme PC Needed To Hit Ultra

System Requirements Optimum 1080p PC Build Low vs Ultra Screenshots GPU Performance Chart CPU List That Meet System Requirements GPU List That Meet System Requirements

Microsoft's on/off approach with PC gaming is very much 'On' these days. Since E3 we found out that every first-party game is also coming to PC, with Gears of War 4 being the undoubted headliner of 2016. JD Fenix and co are about to embark in all-out war for the safety of their homeland against the Locust invasion. Never mind JD Fenix though, what's your PC going to make of these extremely demanding official system requirements for Gears of War 4. Read on to find out...

Gears of War 4 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (with Anniversary Update)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 3.2 GHz or AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • VRAM: 2 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 750 Ti or AMD Radeon R7 260X
  • DX: DirectX 12
  • HDD: 80GB available storage space.

Gears of War 4 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB System Memory
  • VRAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 480
  • DX: DirectX 12

Gears of War 4 Ultra System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 4.0 GHz or AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB System Memory
  • VRAM: 4GB HBM or 6GB GDDR5
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon R9 Fury X
  • DX: DirectX 12
  • HDD: 80GB available storage space + SSD

Now that, ladies and gents, is the sight of some blisteringly demanding system requirements. The highest we have seen, in fact, making Gears of War 4 the most demanding PC game in existence.

Fortunately, this isn't the case across the board. Gears of War 4 has a much more reasonable set of minimum system requirements, albeit still comparatively high against the competition. It's nice to see the GeForce GTX 750 Ti squeeze in. I know plenty of you have Nvidia's tiny powerhouse and it should be capable of playing Gears of War 4 at Low settings, along with AMD's equivalent, the Radeon R7 260X.

Aside from this the CPU requirements are par for the course, as is the 8GB RAM requirement. As with any Microsoft first-party game we're looking at Windows 10 being a necessity, along with DirectX 12 support. What is surprising is the 80GB installation size. That's absolutely mammoth, indicating The Coalition are squeezing in plenty of nice high resolution textures.

The jump up to recommended is a sizeable one. Both AMD and Nvidia's latest mid-range graphics cards make an appearance. Not many people likely have these yet, but the R9 390 and GTX 970 are equivalents which will provide similar performance in GoW 4.

Ultra requirements for Gears of War 4 are of course where things get extreme. Microsoft hasn't specified, but I'd imagine these specs are good for 4K. Across CPU and GPU they're the most powerful available aside from more specialist choices like the Radeon Pro Duo or Titan X Pascal. Aside from this it's rare to see an SSD recommended, but this likely helps with streaming in high resolution assets nice and quickly, improving loading times between areas.

Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the Gears of War 4 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Gears of War 4 benchmark chart.

That's some requirements all right. But seriously, I think if you tweak the likes of the god rays etc, you can still get a damn fine looking game at a good frame rate....hopefully;-)

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. 10TB drives will be a normal thing soon. Just a few years ago, a 1TB was pretty rare.

Don't worry about getting downvoted on a couple of comments bro ;)
It's not that big a deal, and people will always downvote.
You'll do yourself a favour, and live longer if you learn not to get angry for it :p
I'm not sure why you were downvoted, nothing you said seems downvote-worthy to me, but that's just how it is I guess. Could be trolls.
I can understand people being unhappy about having to wait for a download a very long time, but on the other hand I don't think developers should really take that into account. I mean they shouldn't exclude stuff from their games to make their sizes smaller.
Would be nice though if physical copies were more current.

So was Quantum Break and it is headed to steam because it didn't sell on the windows store. I wonder if they will put it on steam to begin with or they will put it on steam after they dont sell enough!

Yes but RemedyGames isn't really a pure Microsoft developer because remember they made the first 2 Max Payne games and Alan Wake but games such as Gears of War has always been a Microsoft exclusive and no i am not saying Xbox exclusive cause the first Gears was also released on PC in the past.

Also remember the facts about how they want their games to be cross play between windows and Xbox which is why games like this wont be going on steam cause really we would of seen GoW UE show up on steam by now which has not been shown.

Also i like seeing the "mature" people down vote me cause i spoke the truth cause really you won't see games like Halo pop up on steam cause Microsoft wants to make their games more exclusive just like how EA wants to make Battlefield more exclusive on origin rather than putting their games on steam or how Overwatch is exclusive on battle.net only and not on steam.

My PC meets all the requirements very very well but.......Windows 10 exclusivity puts me off as I now have no expectations to buy it, simply because I don't have the means to purchase Microsoft products from the store online in my country.

Seems a bit soon saying that, considering the game hasn't been released and there are no benchmark. At this point it is only conjecture. Comparing 2 different games, that don't share a developer or publisher is kind of like telling someone their honda civic won't work because your toyota corolla broke down.

plus you cant compare two completely different games running two completely different engines by two completely different teams of people. thats like saying that since he can get 60fps at 1080 on torchlight, he should do good with gow4.
