By now it’s probably been to more E3’s than Ubisoft, but Capybara Games’ eagerly anticipated Below has been delayed yet again. Scheduled to launch in summer 2016, it has now been delayed indefinitely. From the sounds of it we’re not going here anything more about Below until Capybara can nail down a release date either.
"Instead of giving you a new, loose release window, we will be going dark while we take the time that we need to complete Below without compromise," wrote Capybara in an announcement. "The next time you see a major Below update, that means our game has a firm release date, which we’ll share."
"We did a lot of soul searching. We knew we wanted to get it into your hands as soon as possible. We knew the game was there, and we’re super proud of it, but we also knew it needed more time to make sure it lives up to our studio’s standards, and the quality that you expect from our games.”
Originally announced more than three years ago at Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference, we’ve actually seen precious little of Below in the ensuing years. We’re on the outside looking in so obviously have no firm idea what state Below is in, but presumably Capybara has run into a few snags along the way.
From the sounds of things we’re going to have a short cycle between the release date announcement and launch. Fingers crossed it Below can live up to its huge potential.
