It’s been toiling away in Early Access for a little while now, but publisher Bandai Namco has announced Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade will be launching on PC this September. Eternal Crusade’s proper launch will bring the much anticipated MMO elements, featuring four different factions battling for control of a huge persistent world, much like Planetside (rest in peace) in this respect.
Players will pick between the Elder, Chaos Space Marines, Orks and Space Marines, before heading into huge PvP and PvE battles for control of different territories. There promises to be hundreds of weapons, dozens of sub-factions, and of course gratuitous use of chainsaws.
"We are committed to delivering the best experience for the release on September 23rd, with a PC version that matches our ambitions in terms of content and quality and sets the runway for our free lifetime expansions. To pause the development of the console versions was a tough decision but will result in an optimized and extended experience when released" says Stephen Mulrooney, SVP of developer Behaviour Interactive.
I haven't been keeping much of an eye on this one while it was in Early Access, but consider my interest piqued by its full launch. I love to see the varying takes on persistent battles for territory. They're inherently flawed every time, but sooner or later someone will crack it.
Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade is coming to PC on September 23rd. Anyone given this a whirl in Early Access? What do you make of it?
