Just. One. More. Turn. The Civilization series is the bane of many a PC gamers' free time worldwide. After we've plugged thousands of hours into Civ V, it's the turn of Civilization VI to come along and do it all again. Civ 6 promises to offer countless new ways to expand your glorious empire across the world, advance your civilisation's culture and go nuke happy with Gandhi. Before you fire ze missiles and pre-order Civilization 6, here's the official system requirements.

Civilization VI Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-2100T 2.5 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 810 2.6 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB System Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 or AMD Radeon HD 5570
  • DX: DirectX 11

Civilization VI Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4690T 2.5 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 or AMD Radeon HD 7970

Fortunately for those of you out there with weaker systems, Civilization VI is a slow-paced, turn-based strategy game. Its new cartoony visual style isn't exactly pushing graphical boundaries either, meaning we've got ourselves a very reasonable set of minimum system requirements for Civ 6. A pair of very ancient graphics cards is all that's necessary, meaning Civilization 6 is probably perfect laptop fodder. Just what we like to hear.

If you do want to enable all the other little bells and whistles then you do of course need a more powerful system. Splash out on a better CPU like the Intel Core i5-4690T or AMD Fx-8350 and you're likely to see reduced time waiting between turns for the AI to do its thing.

On the face of things the GeForce GTX 770 and Radeon HD 7970 seem a little overkill for Civ VI's top-down visuals, but there is a fair amount of detail which goes into its world maps.

Overall most people shouldn't run into too many issues running Civilization VI. If you do then remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the Civilization 6 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Civilization 6 GPU benchmark chart.

770 is better on shaders, 7970 is better on memory bandwidth

7970 is better all-around AFAIK.

For a turn-based strategy? This is getting out of hand(coming from a civ fan here).

That is actually quite low by today's standards.

But it's not low by Civilization standards. :)

I wonder what fps the requirements are for? IMO Civ games are totally playable even at very low FPS's, I used to happily play Civ V on my old Intel HD 3000 integrated at like 20fps XD

If I upgrade to a DirectX 11 GPU can my PC handle Civilization VI?

Yes but you should stay on lw settings for maximum fps as you only have a dual core cpu.

I am sorry my friend, I checked the minimal requirements with your specs (here on game debate) and you did not meet the minimal CPU requirement, GPU was fine actually. Go see for yourself.

Actually the cpu doesn't matter much if he can still get good FPS. My CPU doesn't meet recommended and I can still get up to 120FPS.

Not that I would ever play this game.

How do you know you get 120fps while the game isn't out yet?

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the info came from the tool on the game page here on this site.

However I take it with a grain of salt. The tool's accuracy depends on the game's level of optimization.

Do not trust the tool when the game is not even out.

I don't trust most of the tools here, and I always take them with a grain of salt personally.

Can't wait ! I'm a giant fan of 4X and Grand Strategies, and Civ games were always near the very top of my all time favorite games. I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

just want to be sure , will RX 470 max this game? because RX 470 should be better than GTX 770.

Paired with a good cpu (i5 quad core) and preferably 8gb ram, it will have no problem maxing out 1080p 60fps if the requirements are accurate.
