Gears of War 4 is out now for those who want to splash the obscene amount of $100 on the Ultimate Edition, or alternatively you could just wait four days and grab it for $60. In the meantime we've got our mitts on some extensive Gears of War 4 performance benchmarks, providing a breakdown of the sort of performance you can expect from pretty much all gaming graphics cards from the last four or so years.

All of these benchmarks are taken from playing Gears of War 4 on the Ultra graphics preset. Be sure to check out the GoW4 game page for more info the system specs.

All in all we're hearing fantastic things about the PC port of Gears of War 4, which makes a change from the previous Windows Store exclusives. Bearing in mind all of these are taken at the uber-demanding Ultra graphics preset, these are some impressive numbers. For point of reference, the Xbox One version is equivalent to High / 30 FPS for the campaign, so anyone with a GeForce GTX 750 Ti and above has got the console version beat on performance.

In addition to these benchmark results we've also got our Gears of War 4 PC performance breakdown in which we analyse the most demanding of the game's graphics options, and recommend exactly what should be dialed down first in order to achieve a playable frame rate.

You can however I would lower the settings down to low-medium and have your textures and AA on low and/or off, your preference. Then at 1080p you should get decent frames around 40-50 fps.

well the R9 290 was a competitor for the GTX 780 which is slower then a GTX 970 and since the 1060 3GB version is on somewhat same level as the GTX 970 i really didnt see it coming

I know, that's what makes it funny. Maybe the benchmark always has some sort of dynamic resolution turned on regardless of settings?

Some of the cards managed to do better on 1440p than full HD! When comparing its important to use the same content
