Shadow Warrior 2 Dev Skips Denuvo As It Makes The Game 'Worse For Legit Customers'

Shadow Warrior 2 developer Flying Wild Hog has spoken out against controversial anti-tamper DRM Denuvo, explaining that it wasn’t included in its much anticipated sequel as it “would make a worse version for our legit customers”.

The original plan looks to have been to include Denuvo support. But, taking into account the apparent effect it has on performance in some games, and indeed the fact that it’s been widely cracked anyway these days, Flying Wild Hog chose to remove it.

“We don’t support piracy, but currently there isn’t a good way to stop it without hurting our customers,” explained Flying Wild Hog. “Denuvo means we would have to spend money for making a worse version for our legit customers. It’s like this FBI warning screen on legit movies.”

As well as this, FWH played down recent talk of a visual downgrade. The latest version shown off at Gamescom Cologne back in August looked noticeably stripped down to what we’d seen before. In response to this FWH has added a bunch of new graphical features and effects to bring it up to par with the original reveal.

“It’s not downgraded. Actually, we added tons of new GFX features and content. For example, we have added volumetric fog and light shafts, we added real-time reflections, enabled real-time shadows for a lot of lights…”

So there you have it, it sounds like Shadow Warrior 2 is in great hands. All the noises coming out of this game suggest could be quite the game as well. We’ll find out for ourselves very soon; Shadow Warrior 2 is out on October 13th for PC.

Somehow, when playing Shadow Warrior, i knew that "Flying Wild Hog" is a cool developer. They created "Hard Reset" and "Shadow Warrior", both games were great and reminded me of old school shooters.

P.S. They are Polish, like CDPR. Looks like i'll pre-order every polish game from now on.

With this news, and how well the game actually plays from recent gameplay video, I hope this game does better than the other games that are utilizing denuvo;)

No problem for them. Most of the shi**y publishers don't care if they contradict themselves and they certainly don't care if somebody proves that they are wrong. And of course, most customers will buy anything.
