The newly renamed THQ Nordic has whipped me into a nostalgia-fuelled frenzy with the announcement that it has acquired the rights to all of NovaLogic’s franchises. As it stands THQ Nordic (formerly Nordic Games) now own the rights to approximately 97% of all videogame licenses in the world*. NovaLogic may have disappeared off the face of the earth in recent years, but there was a time back in the 90’s where they were one of the biggest names in PC gaming. Some of their most beloved franchises include Delta Force, Comanche and F-16.

“NovaLogic pioneered military simulations and military-themed multiplayer shooters with vehicular combat and also clearly targeted at an adult audience,” said Reinhard Pollice, business and product development director at THQ Nordic. “We are extremely satisfied with the new additions to our portfolio, and also very thrilled about how to continue some of said franchises, we are open for talks in this regard if any developer approaches us with a concept for a potential sequel to any IP.”

NovaLogic’s biggest IPs

  • Delta Force Series
  • Comanche Series
  • Joint Operations Series
  • Armored Fist Series
  • Tachyon: The Fringe
  • F-22 – Series
  • F-16 Series

Just the very mention of a Delta Force is enough to get me all dewy eyed. Long ago were the days when I’d plug my dial-up internet in and play Delta Force online. Having up to 32 players absolutely blew my mind at the time, along with huge maps and it being the early days of online gaming. Joint Operations did a similar trick but on an even larger scale, offering 150-player games.

With the NovaLogic licenses now in THQ’s hands, which of its classic franchises would you like to see rise like a phoenix from the ashes?

*Totally made up but probably correct

It was a lot of fun killing myself in delta force 2 i think i played. :D:D You aim on the sky and u fire and after a couple of seconds the bullet you shot kills you. As far as i know bullets decrease their speed and they can't kill you once they're fired and once the bullet goes down. Physics of the old times...

I've also got fond memories of Delta Force and especially Delta Force 2, wayyy back on dial up, when there were a few games I could actually still play on that connection. I remember the third installment of the Delta Force series didn't play that well on dial up, so I didn't get to play it that much.
I also had F-22 Lightning (I think the second one), and TACHYON! It wasn't the best space shooter ever, but the main character was voiced by none other than BRUCE CAMPBELL!

So I was right about Tachyon then, but I never would've thought Bruce Campbell is in it, wow!
