The absolutely relentless DLC plan in place for Total War: Warhammer continues apace with the announcement of the Realm of the Wood Elves expansion. This one promises to bring a bit more to the table than the last few DLC packs have though, with the Wood Elves playing in a markedly different way to just about any faction currently in the game.

Wood Elves, naturally enough, are clued into nature. Rising from the forests they have powerful allies such as Great Eagles, Dryads, Forest Dragons and giant Ents Treemen, along with the best archers in the whole of Total War: Warhammer. Because the Wood Elves may love nature but there’s nothing they like more than to butcher a tree into tiny twigs.

"With a rich suite of lore-inspired campaign and battle mechanics, Total War: Warhammer's first Elven race offers a playstyle unlike any other," says publisher Sega. Interestingly the Wood Elves have no true place to call home, so players can claim any region as their own. With every successive city they manage to build, the Wood Elves get a piece of magical amber which helps the Oak of Ages grow. Get it to full size and the Wood Elves win the match. The higher it gets though, the more attention it’s going to attract.

The Realm of the Wood Elves expansion also comes with a bunch of new Legendary Lords and Heroes to mess around with. You can look for the DLC on December 8th, priced at £14.

all the dlcs cost the same price as the game itself , the free faction they are giving out for free is simply a reskin of another faction already in game. Shame, i loved the total war franchise before it turned into this piecemeal fest.
Just one more thing
"Blood DLC" in a god damn total war game. TOTAL WAR game...

What faction is a reskin of another faction? Are you talking about bretonia? i am assuming you haven't looked into them at all. Not 1 faction is the same as any other(played that is). The all are VERY different. If you mean reskin by the fact that it is a human race i think that is overly generalized bretonia. I think you are confusing this game with older Total war games where EVERYONE is the same and you have 1 or 2 units that are stronger than they are in other factions.

You know that is very little. How does that compare to what you get from CDProjekt Red for example??? It's simple extortion, we get half finished product. And it's on purpose.

5 new heroes, 3 lores of magic and a playable race vs. 3 armor sets, 3 alternative looks for other characters, hairstyle set, 4 quests, new finisher animations, elite crossbow set and NG+?

Imo Witcher 3 "free-lc" was trash but I guess that's subjective. But if we are going to look the amount of content added, TW:W wins as a whole race is a whole lot more than just a reskin. New animations, unit types, heroes and spell.

But please keep praising the amazing "free-lc" of Witcher 3.

Calm down. It's not really in the game as the rosters are incomplete.
Also Chaos was free for those who pre-ordered(This is bad, I know) AND for those who bought the game during the week after release. Free for a week is pretty good deal as those who really wanted the game, but were afraid that game would be incomplete or poorly optimized, could wait out for reviews and benchmarks.

It compares very favorable. Witcher 3's free content was small, forgettable, and borderline useless(the new skins were far sub par to the ones already in the game), just their to gain some good PR and pave the way for their paid DLC

Because it's illegal probably. I wouldn't walk into a store and steal something, making it anonymous doesn't suddenly make it acceptable.

Is the current DLC model put in by Creative Assembly, or Sega?

so... no... CA is the developer and Sega the publisher. Games Workshop is in control of the IP and is controlling the DLC model.

actually its Sega that controls it as Games Workshop allows CA to use their IP but they get their funding from Sega directly therefore they would be the ones dictating DLC policy
