In amongst the excitement of the Square Enix - Marvel collaboration and the announcement of Ni No Kuni II for PC, there also lurked another hidden gem - Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. If you haven’t seen the new trailer then be sure to let your eyes gorge on it toot sweet - this is aerial dogfighting for the next generation, complete with some mighty fine visuals.

I haven’t had the good fortune of playing the Ace Combat series in a good long while, but this looks like a gloriously Japanese take on fighter jet combat, complete with melodramatic storyline, made up continents with complicated names and a ridiculous soundtrack.

In the final game players will have access to a huge array of aircrafts to pilot throughout a full single-player campaign. Visually Ace Combat 7 is looking top notch, both in the skies and in terms of the detailed cities for the air-to-ground missions. It’s all being created in Unreal Engine 4 which should hopefully ensure some decent performance from the PC port.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is out later in 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
