It’s had all sorts of mini add-ons and other assorted goodies, but Paradox Interactive has now announced the first proper expansion pack for Stellaris. Dubbed ‘Utopia’, the expansion adds Megastructures (Wonders equivalents), habitat space stations, and erm, speciesism.

You’re now given finer control over the individual rights and privileges of the many species of alien races under your domain. If you want you can make your little corner of the universe a paradise for avians or a living hell.

In addition to this Ascension Perks are being added to Stellaris: Utopia. These are granted as your species advances, letting you further evolve them and customise their advancement. You can pick between psionic, biological and synthetic paths, each with unique abilities.

“Stellaris: Utopia brings even greater depth and variety to a game already celebrated for its story-telling power and near endless possibilities” said Paradox. “Are you ready for perfection?”

There’s no release date to speak of for Stellaris: Utopia other than ‘Coming Soon!’ Considering Paradox’s usual launch time frames you can expect to see it by the end of March at the latest.

Are they doing anything to address the late game cpu bottlenecking problems. I love this game, but it becomes almost unplayable on my rig once I get an army of 500k power or greater.

I picked up Stellaris last year in the sale, VERY enjoyable space strategy, I'll be keen to give this a try when it becomes available :)
