It’s been delayed three times so don’t get your hopes up but Microids has announced Syberia 3 will be launching on April 20th in Europe and April 25th in North America. Originally announced in 2009 and arriving 13 years after Syberia 2, Syberia 3 has been a long time coming, although it promises to be something special for point and click adventure fans.
“After years of expectations, we are glad to offer to our fans a first overview of the universe imagined by Benoit Sokal and set to music by Inon Zur. This first trailer will transport them in Kate Walker’s new adventure, they will learn more about her fellow companions and the obstacles they are going to face”, said Elliot Grassiano, VP of Microids.
I mean, you can definitely tell it started development in 2009 can’t you? Still, the first two Syberia games were fantastic and this has always been a series about top-notch storytelling and world building.
From the looks of things you’re going to want to have brushed up on the previous two games before dropping into Syberia 3. There’s some extensive backstory to cover leading into the events of this game, which concerns Kate waking up and being care for by a nomadic people trapped in the city of Valsembor. Fortunately both Syberia and Syberia 2 can usually be picked up very cheaply in Steam sales and the like so keep an eye out for them.
