In the absence of Monster Hunter, Toukiden 2 looks to be out as good as it gets for fans of tracking down and slaying giant beasts, before harvesting their skin and bones to wear as bespoke armour. The original was actually pretty awesome, truth to be told, so Toukiden 2 could be worth keeping an eye on when it launches next week. If you fancy giving it a shot, here are the official Toukiden 2 system requirements.

Toukiden 2 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-870 2.93 GHz or AMD FX-8120 3.1 GHz
  • RAM: 3 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 1 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 450 or AMD Radeon HD 6570
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 17 GB available space

Toukiden 2 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 3.40 GHz or AMD FX-8370 4.1 GHz
  • RAM: 5 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 3 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon R7 370
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 17 GB available space

Now here's a very odd set of system requirements. To the best of my knowledge I can't actually think of a game which recommends 5GB of RAM, probably because next to no-one actually has this configuration. Anyway, what we're seeing is an incremental rise in system requirements for Toukiden 2 compared to its predecessor. I can see Tecmo Koei's thinking process here. Toukiden was 2GB RAM minimum, 4GB recommended, so why not just bump up each one a gigabyte. What we're left with is a weird scenario wherein 5GB RAM is recommended. Anyway, that's not particularly high so most people should be covered on that front regardless.

What we're then left with is some lofty CPU requirements paired with some pretty low-end graphics card requirements. On the CPU front, Toukiden 2 demands an i7-870 as the absolute minimum, while the recommended is also pretty beefy with a Core i7-2600 or an AMD FX-8370. While there are some much faster processors available these days, this is still quite high-end when you consider Toukiden 2 is also launching on Sony's PS Vita handheld

As for the recommended graphics cards - watch out here. While a GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon R7 370 is recommended to play Toukiden 2 at Ultra / 1080p, you are going to need 3GB VRAM. Only certain specific GTX 660's have even have 3GB, while you'll need the 4GB flavour of the Radeon R7 370. Just to be on the safe side I'd probably recommend a GeForce GTX 960 or equivalent.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Toukiden 2 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users.
