Dirt Rally came along last year and sated the petrol-lust of some of the purer Colin McRae fans, although plenty still missed the classic Dirt series over-the-top racing and blaring attitude. Codemasters was evidently listening because Dirt 4 is revving up on the starting grid come June 6th. It promises to be off-road racing next to the next level, packing in a near infinite variety of tracks thanks to the Your Stage feature. It's basically Worms level generator for cars. Dirt 4 promises to be some high-octane fun, and here's the official PC specs for Dirt 4.

Dirt 4 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-530 2.9 GHz or AMD FX-4100 3.6 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 1 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 440 or AMD Radeon HD 5570 1024MB
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 50 GB available space

Dirt 4 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5 GHz or AMD FX-8320 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 4 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 or AMD Radeon R9 Fury
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 50 GB available space

I'll admit I felt an internal yelp when I first glanced over Dirt 4's recommended specs. These are a fair whack higher than last year's Dirt Rally and some pretty hefty system specs indeed. Fortunately the minimum specs are a different matter entirely. These are remarkably low, ensuring Dirt 4 should work on a wide range of PC gaming systems and that we have a very decent spread of performance impacting graphics settings.

I'll start then with Dirt 4's minimum specs. Provided you have a 64-bit operating system and any graphics card with 1GB VRAM, you should be good to go. This covers just about any Nvidia graphics card from the GeForce 400 series upwards, and any Radeon HD 5000 series GPU. CPU demands are comparatively the highest of the bunch, but assuming you've upgraded at any point in the last five or so years, you should be good to go with Dirt 4.

The recommended specs for Dirt 4 are a different matter entirely, although based on Dirt Rally's performance I'd hazard a guess this is actually the specs necessary for 4K as it appears to be much the same engine. A GeForce GTX 980 can pull in a fairly solid 60 frames per second in Dirt Rally at 4K so I'd expect it to be a similar deal in Dirt 4. The only caveat is the additional cars on the track, so we'll have to wait and see.

One last thing - the official specs for Dirt 4 suggest a minimum of 4MB and recommended 8MB of RAM. This is obviously a typo so we've switched in from MB to GB.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Dirt 4 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Dirt 4 GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Dirt 4 Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

Racing games always have a low system requirement that made for almost PCs.

If you want to be an ahole than so be it. I don't intend to argue with some random guy on the internet, have a nice day. Oh and btw my system serves me well for over 3 and a half years. YOU should have respect for ALL systems. Not everyone is a rich mom and dads boy/girl.

How did you manage to get 40% OC on GTX 1080Ti in ING SLI? its like 2070+MHz(around 2180MHz when boosting?) on 2 ING 250W TDP CARDS!!

Why's Win 10 recommended. The game isn't using DX12.

I know... Even the recommended CPUs are pre Windows 10. So they can't claim that it is for newer generation CPU support.

Just because it's the latest I suppose. Don't expect it to mean much. It's very frequent with the OS requirements.

Yep, it's just fairly standard practice to list the latest OS. Doesn't mean a great deal in the end.

I got Dirt 3 for free from Humble bundle, and I enjoyed it so much I'm probably going to buy this one. They really know how to make a well optimized game.

Me too, but I hope the next one was more like Grid2, I really liked the feel of the controls in Grid2.

I shoulda gone with 1TB 7200rpm hdd instead of 480gb ssd.

I dont use SSDs for games. My new seagate 2tb HDD has a read speed of around 210MB/s while my SSD is around 450MB/s. I have over 500gb of games so an SSD wouldnt help lol. I don't mind waiting for it to load, its still better at 210MB/s then it is at 100MB/s on a cheap HDD or something.

well... wasn't sure how much better is a 7200rpm compared to 5400rpm. So, I went with SSD. From exp, Batman AK runs well on ssd compared to 5400 rpm hdd.

Very nice. Dirt Rally in ultrawide pretty much maxed out on an r9 390 runs a solid 75fps without skipping a beat, id be surprised if Dirt 4 didn't as well. True there is a bit more to render in Dirt 4 but if your good, those cars won't be around you for very long muhahahahha.

Now this is how every game should be optimized, to work on both low end and high end machines, not just mid and high end. Good Job!

I would be very surprised if these recommended specs arent meant for 4K indeed. I dont expect a major visual enhancement and Codemasters always release game with great performance. This is probably my most awaited game right now. I just hope it wont dissapoint a Dirt Rally fan like me. From what I heard it is made so as to please both driving audiences.
