The Red Dead Redemption rumour mill is in full swing, with a number of retailers already posting release dates. Media Markt, Europe’s largest retailer of consumer electronics, updated its website to say Red Dead Redemption 2 will be launching on October 3, 2017.

That’s a concrete release date, and when contacted a representative said "I would like to inform you that our marketing department was informed by [the] distributor of the game that its airing date is 3rd of October 2017".

Since news of the release date has blown up, MediaMarkt has since retracted it and attempted to claim it was an error on their part. Red Dead Redemption 2 now has the extremely safe placeholder date of December 31, 2017.

When it comes to release dates some of the larger retailers are first in line to hear about it. It would make a great deal of sense for Media Markt to already be aware of Red Dead Redemption 2’s launch so it can prepare to cope with the inevitably huge demand.

A quick glance over Rockstar’s previous big hit paints a similar picture. Grand Theft Auto 5 launched a fortnight earlier on September 17, 2013, and well know how that ended up. Should this release date be true then you can expect an absolute scramble from the other AAA publishers in effort to get out the way of Red Dead Redemption 2’s war path. It’s going to be absolutely huge.

All that's left now is to sit around patiently and wait the 18 months for a PC version. Curse you Rockstar.

The only reason why I got PS3 was because of Red Dead Redemption and if this doesn't come to PC well, your loss R*.

And then there is PS4 which I got for The Last of Us and Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection and 4 which came with it.

If this isn't on PC at launch I will laugh my ass off and won't buy it until it does! :)

No PC, no buy. Sorry Rockstar, I bought a PS3 just to play your last Red Dead game, but I didn't have a decent PC at the time. I'm not going back to that ever again.

I hope that this one makes to PC eventually. I am still pissed that the last one never did.

you mean "if it releases on PC". I wouldn't put it past Rockstar to keep this game off pc. They could have released RDR on pc anytime, but they won't.
