PlayStation 4 exclusive The King of Fighters XIV is set to come to PC via Steam, developer SNK has announced. The brutally hardcore fighting game has made a name for itself in arcades across Japan, as well as launching on PlayStation 4 last summer. PC players will at long last be able to get their hands on The King of Fighters - Steam Edition at some point this very month.
Ahead of then a closed-beta is also being prepared. It’s unclear how fans can participate in this, but considering the close proximity to release expect it be a pretty exclusive affair.
The King of Fighters XIV is the first KoF game to be rendered entirely in 3D, including both the fighters and the environments. In comparison to King of Fighters XIII, the Hyper Drive system has been removed, replaced by the Max Mode seen in earlier KoF titles. When the Max Mode ability is filled up, players can perform unlimited EX moves for a period of time, forcing their opponent to defend themselves.
