Russian publisher 1C has just announced Ancestors (not to be confused with Ancestors: A Humankind Odyssey), an ambitious new squad-based real-time strategy game from Destructive Creations set in the Dark Ages. Inspired by medieval European history, the single-player campaign features four playable nations (Viking, Anglo-Saxon, German, Slav) with tactical combat, base building and resource management. It looks to be a little bit Age of Empires, a little bit Company of Heroes, and a smidgen of For Honor. Ancestors isn't out until later this year, but we've already got our hands on the system requirements for this impressive looking RTS.
Ancestors Minimum System Requirements
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-750 2.66 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 GHz
- RAM: 4 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 1 GB Video Memory
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5850 1024MB
- DX: DirectX 11
- HDD: 8GB available space
Ancestors Recommended System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz
- RAM: 8 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 2 GB Video Memory
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 or AMD Radeon R9 285
- DX: DirectX 11
- HDD: 8GB available space
Initial impressions are that this is a fairly gorgeous looking strategy title. Ancestors has been built using Unreal Engine 4 and it shows. Visually this is an impressive step up for Destructive Creations' previous two titles - IS Defense and the controversial Hatred. The cinematic trailer below is all in-engine, suggesting some impressive graphical fidelity in Ancestors.
Ultimately the system requirements for Ancestors are fairly run of the mill. The sort of system specs you'd expect to see for an RTS in 2017. Down at the minimum specs for Ancestors, all you'll be needing is competent CPU released in the last six or so years, alongside a DirectX 11-capable graphics card with at least 1GB VRAM. This will need to be paired with 4GB system memory.
The recommended specs for Ancestors are then effectively a doubling of performance. These requirements are likely for playing Ancestors at 1080p with max settings, bumping the demands up to a decent quad-core processor and a video card with at least 2GB GDDR5 memory. Anything from the GTX 670 or Radeon R9 285 upwards should do, which for today's models means a GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 460 should be fine for running Ancestors on PC.
As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Ancestors System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Ancestors GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Ancestors Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

amazing trailer! Why don't they make a single player story game just like this trailer! Seems like they are capable enough! :O
PC Specs
I wonder why they,re not putting a ryzen cpu for recommended instead of the FX 8350 etc ?
PC Specs
cause therse was no ryzen cpu when the game started developing
PC Specs
you can see that they started developing game in era of those specs mentioned as "minimum", and did optimization and testing of alpha/beta most likey during era of those specs mentioned as "recommended" :)

Well that does make perfect sense lol sorry for the obvious answer.
