Piranha Bytes, they of Gothic and Risen fame, have announced their next sci-fi fantasy fusion RPG, ELEX (Eclectic, Lavish, Exhilarating, Xenial), will be launching on October 17th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While the mix is a little tricky to wrap your head around without checking out the screens and the new trailer, it’s sort of classical fantasy character designs with swords and shields fused with a giant post-apocalyptic world, pulse rifles, mutant creatures and velociraptors.
I’ve got really high hopes for ELEX and think it may be a title flying under the radar with the potential to surprise us. Player choice matters, there’s a seamless open world with no loading zones, and a jetpack so you can literally travel anywhere.
Anyway, there’s a new trailer out, as well as the preliminary minimum PC specs you’ll need to play ELEX.
ELEX Minimum System Requirements (Preliminary, may change)
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-2405S 2.5 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0 GHz
- RAM: 6 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 1 GB Video Memory
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 or AMD Radeon HD 5870
- DX: DirectX 11
- HDD: 20 GB available space
- Audio: DirectX Compatible Sound Card
These system requirements for ELEX are subject to change. However, as system specs go, these minimum requirements for ELEX seem extremely fair. It's packing in what promises to be a massive yet dynamic open world, and yet you'll only need an ageing DirectX 11-compatible graphics card in order to play, paired with a quad-core processor and 6GB RAM.
Typically GPU RAM is a stumbling block these days, but ELEX only necessities 1GB to play at lower graphics settings. Looking at slightly more modern cards, you should be just fine playing ELEX with a GeForce GTX 750 Ti, Radeon R9 270 or equivalent.
We'll be sure to update you if these specs change at any point between now and ELEX's October launch, and you'll always be able to see the latest specs and check estimated performance over on the ELEX game page here on GD.
As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the ELEX System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the ELEX GPU benchmark chart and we also have an ELEX Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

Well, this looks promising...

This... looks either amazing or terrible. They tend to be incredibly ambitious RPGS with combat that can be a let down. We'll see how it goes! Wait for reviews, as always!
Thanks, Jon! I would not have known about this without you!
