One of the biggest shocks to come out of Microsoft’s humdrum E3 conference was the reveal of 4A Games’ Metro Exodus. The third game in the Metro series based on the bestselling novels, Metro Exodus takes the franchise’s tried and test story-driven first-person shooter combat into a massive open world. The gritty shooter blends combat and stealth with survival horror and exploration, bearing more than a passing resemblance to the excellent STALKER series.

Set four years after the events of Metro: Last Light, Metro Exodus starts in Moscow but quickly expands, taking in an epic journey across post-apocalyptic Russia. Nuclear radiation has turned the local fauna exceptionally aggressive, including a gigantic bench-pressing bear capable of tearing down entire walls.

“In Metro Exodus, Artyom and a band of survivors must flee the shattered ruins of the Moscow Metro and embark on an epic, continent-spanning journey across the post-apocalyptic Russian wilderness,” explains 4A Games. “Explore vast, non-linear levels, lose yourself in an immersive, sandbox survival experience, and follow a thrilling storyline that spans an entire year in the greatest Metro adventure yet.”

Metro: Exodus will be launching in 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Oh I'm definitely picking this up. I loved the first two.
Along with Wolfenstein II and the Dishonored standalone adventure, or DLC, or whatever that is. That prison escape game looks like fun too.

Very nice, but I really hope the open-world wont ruin it. The linearity of the first games was a core element. But If the world will turn out to be like in the STALKER games, then fine by me.

Good thing I just bought the Metro Redux bundle on Steam, it's off 75% at the mo. Played a bit of Last Light on the PS3 but the performance was poor, the bugs were awful and the controller response wasn't great.
Intriguing games, though, and definitely meant to be played on PC.

Obviously, the negative ending is not the "right" one as in the first installment. Probably 4A trying to teach you that killing is wrong and forgiveness is right.

Artyom's death is not the cannon. He is a good guy both in books and in the game.

Ah nooooooooo. Another game that has been forced to become an open world sandbox due to industry trends............ :(

What's wrong with Open World? If the story is not set below in the depths, but above, would you rather have invisible walls?
This is basically saying: I'm trying to create a new STALKER atmosphere. If they succeed, it's 2GOTD, 2nd Game Of The Decade, first being Witcher 3

you should not consider open world as a con because you still can have the experience of a linear story if you just followed the story missions. open worlds suits both casual and completionist players.
