Bethesda’s E3 2017 conference took place in the wee hours of the morning here in the UK, at the eye-watering time of 5am. I was busy snoring but woke up to the news that Machine Games’ Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus has been officially revealed. A sequel was always on the cards since Bethesda teased it during last year’s conference. BJ Blazkowicz is back, this time fighting the Nazi scum on US streets.
Players will be ripping and tearing across Roswell, New Mexico, post-nuclear Manhattan, the flooded streets of New Orleans and more, all of which have fallen under Nazi rule. BJ and the rest of the gang are still hiding out of sight after the assassination of Nazi General Deathshead, but must rise up as “humanity’s last hope for liberty.”
Just when you think Wolfenstein couldn’t get any more melodramatic, MachineGames goes and ups the ante once more. “Only you have the guts, guns, and gumption to return stateside, kill every Nazi in sight, and spark the second American Revolution.”
When I hear the name Wolfenstein, I'm not going to lie, I just want it in my veins, so I’m all down for a sequel launching in just four months time. It should also help me learn how to spell Colossus. The back end of that trailer is just glorious, particularly that shotgun blasting run down the corridor capped off by axing a Nazi in the back. Bliss.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be out on October 27th, 2017, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
