Microsoft used Forza Motorsport 7 to kick off its Xbox One X reveal for one very good reason - racing sims are one of the most accomplished methods of showing off how powerful the hardware is. Developers can wax lyrical about tyre treads, stitched leather seats and real-time rain and puddle effects. Forza Motorsport 7 didn't disappoint, and this time we're going to be able to see it all with the power of a gaming PC behind it. Brace yourself, here are the official Forza Motorsport 7 PC system requirements.

Forza Motorsport 7 Minimum System Requirements

  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory

  • HDD: TBA
  • DX: DirectX 12

Well, that's a turn up for the books. In a surprising twist on these usual shenanigans, Forza Motorsport 7 actually has lower system requirements than last year's Forza Horizon 3. When you begin to think about it though, it does begin to make sense. Forza Motorsport 7 is comparatively compact to Forza Horizon 3, with its huge, open-world and off-road racing. It's just you, the cars, and the track. There is no doubting FM7 looks every bit as good though, as we're getting a gorgeous racer with much less demanding system requirements to boot.

That, of course, isn't to say that you'll be running Forza Motorsport 7 on any old PC. You're still going to need a DirectX 12-capable video with at least 2GB VRAM, along with 8GB minimum RAM and a quad-core processor. Just about any quad-core CPU should do it; Intel's i5-750 is now eight years old so it's hardly a powerhouse in this day and age.

The jump up to recommended specs for Forza Motorsport 7 isn't horrendous either. It's worth bearing in mind these are likely the specs for 1080p, so if you want to go to 1440p or 4K, you are going to have to ramp up the hardware significantly. A GTX 1060 / 1070 should do for 1440p, while 4K will be the domain of the GeForce GTX 1070, 1080 and, presumably, Radeon RX Vega. The RAM requirements remain exactly the same, sticking to 8GB. This is half of Forza Horizon 3's 16GB. Once again a quad-core CPU is recommended for Forza Motorsport 7, although we're not talking at the top-end of the scale here.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Forza Motorsport 7 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users.
