Blizzard has announced that the long-awaited StarCraft: Remastered will be zerg rushing PC on August 14th. The real-time strategy classic has been updated with new widescreen and 4K visuals, enhanced audio, improved matchmaking and leaderboards, and individual stat tracking for players.
StarCraft Remastered will set players back the fairly reasonable price of $14.99, and the updated visuals should go a long way towards making StarCraft look a little more palatable in this day and age, particularly in regards to attracting an eSports crowd.
“Nearly 20 years ago, StarCraft welcomed millions of gamers to an epic sci-fi universe—and also helped form the foundation for esports as we know it today,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Passionate gamers around the world are still playing Brood War, both with friends and competitively, so we're modernizing the technology behind StarCraft so that they can continue to enjoy the game for many years to come.”
StarCraft: Remastered includes both the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War. It’ll be available through the Blizzard client from August 14th.
