The original king of eSports is back. Blizzard has been busy giving StarCraft a little spit and polish for StarCraft Remastered, adding updated visuals, 4K and widescreen support, new audio and more. It's all in an aim to make StarCraft a little more palatable to the baying crowds, with packed out Korean arenas up until now forced to endure muddy, dated visuals. Naturally, the system requirements for StarCraft Remastered are a fair jump up from the 1998 original. Here are the PC specs you'll need for SC: Remastered...

StarCraft Remastered Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 32-bit
  • CPU: Intel Pentium D 805 2.67 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3600+ 3.5GHz
  • RAM: 2 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 256MB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce 6800 GT or Radeon X1600 Pro
  • HDD: 2.8 GB available hard drive space
  • DX: DirectX 9

StarCraft Remastered Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+ 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 512MB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or AMD Radeon HD 4850
  • HDD: 2.8 GB available hard drive space
  • DX: DirectX 10

It probably comes as little surprise to you to see that StarCraft Remastered will run on just about any old potato. Provided you've got some form of CPU and a graphics card (or modern integrated graphics) and you should have few what problems whatsoever running SC: Remastered. Compared to the original game these system requirements are obviously far higher, but 19 years is a long time.

If you want to take advantage of the updated 4K support in StarCraft Remastered then it seems fairly likely you're going to want a rig that clocks in a bit higher than the recommended specs. Logically any GPU with 2GB VRAM should be able to play Starcraft at 4K resolution. If you've got a 4K display anyway, you're bound to have a graphics card that also meets these specs.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the StarCraft Remastered System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the StarCraft Remastered GPU benchmark chart and we also have a StarCraft Remastered Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

what kinda of remaster is this?! shouldn't they use a fully new (modern) engine while keeping the storyline and the gameplay untouched. personally i wont bother getting this game(at least not in the near future), i will just redownload SC2 if i had to fulfill my strategy urge

That's what I said... and that's what the people I know want as well, but it turns out that a majority of people just want a reskin with minor upgrades...

Maybe you could run at ultra super low settings with no shadows and you should get 5fps on average though I suggest you play a less demanding game like GTA 2
