Horror movie fans will be all too aware that the very best in the genre don’t show and tell, rather preying on the fear of the unknown. It's not just for scares though, the unknown can make anything intriguing. Clearly, Bethesda doesn’t believe in the power of the unknown, releasing a trio of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus trailers totally more than an hour, presenting a full run through of the game’s first three levels. Tread carefully if you wish to avoid Wolfenstein II spoilers.
The first 20-minute video takes the player through Wolfenstein II’s first mission, ‘The Reunion’. BJ Blazkowicz has woken up after the events at the tail end of Wolfenstein: The New Order, and it doesn’t long until a good bout of Nazi bashing is required.
The second 25-minute trailer is for the Roswell mission which formed the basis for Wolfenstein II’s E3 presence. You know, milkshake Nazi, the KKK, and an atom bomb hidden inside a fire extinguisher.
Wolfenstein II’s final gameplay walkthrough is for the Zitadelle boss battle. Do I know what the Zitadelle? No, because I haven’t watched any of these. I don’t think I’m all that keen on spoiling the first hour of one of my most anticipated games. I suspect about half of you are in the same situation judging from our recent Up For Debate on whether too much is being spoiled by game trailers. A three-minute cinematic trailer is one thing, the first three levels is a different thing entirely. Still, the brief snippets I’ve checked out look awesome. Wolfenstein II is already looking every inch as good as its predecessor.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is out on October 27th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
