Spintires is back! After developer Ooovee Game Studios went radio silent shortly after the first game launched, much to the chagrin of fans, Focus Home Interactive has picked up publishing duties for the sequel. Spintires: MudRunner is now being developed by Saber Interactive, who have previously worked on NBA Playgrounds, Quake Champions and Halo Online.
Spintires: Mudrunner looks to improve on the original game in just about every conceivable way, this time with a larger budget and the polished sheen that entails. Once again players will get behind the wheel of an array of immense all-terrain vehicles and attempt to navigate across treacherous Siberian terrain armed with just a map and a compass.
The sequel includes nine new maps, 13 new vehicles, a total graphical overhaul and revamped mud physics. “Drive 19 powerful all-terrain vehicles, each with its own characteristics and attachable equipment,” says Focus. “Complete your objectives and deliveries by enduring perilous conditions across wild, untamed landscapes in extreme conditions with dynamic day-night cycles. Explore an immersive sandbox environment, enhanced by improved graphics. Overcome muddy terrain, raging rivers and other obstacles that all realistically react to the weight and movement of your vehicle powered by the game's advanced physics engine.”
In a nice nod to fans of the original, Spintires: MudRunner will be 50% off for owners of the original, stacking with a 10% for pre-orders on Steam, amounting to 60% off the sequel. Not shabby at all.
Spintires: Mudrunner is out in October for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
