What with Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and COD: WWII on the way, Nazi bashing is going to be our biggest hobby this coming holiday season. A new trailer has just dropped for the former, a deliciously juxtaposed mish-mash of totalitarian rule, ultra-violence and American doo-wop.
At the risk of reading into it a little, the No More Nazis trailer name reads like a call to more contemporary concerns. B.J. Blazkowicz definitely isn’t sitting on his butt eating sheet cake, he’s out there with resistance, axing Nazis like it’s going out of fashion.
“The Nazis have taken over America. They've turned Manhattan into a wasteland,” says Bethesda, matter of factly. “They’ve walled off New Orleans and are systematically purging the city, burning people and homes to the ground. And they brazenly walk the streets of small-town USA – going where they want, taking what they want and behaving however they please. But this is not BJ Blazkowicz’s America. The United States will never be broken – not with BJ on the job, rallying the Resistance and igniting a revolution.”
It brings a tear to my eye just how gung-ho Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus looks. It’s out on October 27th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch release is due to arrive in early 2018.
