Bethesda has revealed the system requirements for The Evil Within 2, from Shinji Mikami and the folks at Tango Gameworks. It's a new generation of horror, one in which the world warps and twists around Detective Sebastian Castellanos, bending to suit his most horrific fears. Before you strap yourself into the STEM machine for your next nightmarish ride, here are the official The Evil Within 2 system requirements.

The Evil Within 2 Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 3.1 GHz or AMD FX-8320 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 2GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB or AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 40GB Available Hard Drive Space

The Evil Within 2 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 6 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB
  • DX: DirectX 11
  • HDD: 40GB Available Hard Drive Space

The Evil Within 2 runs on a modified version of either id Tech 5 or id Tech 6, dubbed the STEM Engine. This means it's a bit of a lucky dip between id Tech 5, which powered the original Evil Within, or id Tech 6, which was used for the silky smooth DOOM. I would guess it's the former as The Evil Within 2 has almost identical system requirements to Dishonored 2.

We know from Dishonored 2 that these system requirements for The Evil Within 2 may not have a huge bearing on the actual performance. Down at the bottom end, Tango Gameworks suggest a GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7970 should do, although this will probably require dropping all the graphics settings and playing at 720p resolution. These GPUs will need to be paired with 8GB RAM minimum for TEW2, as well as a quad-core processor (just about any will do for Intel, AMD users look for FX-8xxx series and upwards).

There's a typically massive jump from the minimum to recommended specs for The Evil Within 2, something we've come to expect from Bethesda-published titles. These aren't extreme requirements but they are near the top-end of what we'd expect from a AAA title. The GeForce GTX 1060 and Radeon RX 480 take up their usual mantles as the recommended graphics cards for 1080p gaming in The Evil Within 2, while there's also a doubling of RAM to 16GB and a hefty bump in CPU demands. AMD's new darling, the Ryzen 5 1600X, is recommended, alongside a high-end quad-core Intel processor.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the The Evil Within 2 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the The Evil Within 2 GPU benchmark chart and we also have a The Evil Within 2 Frame Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

16gb ram? Is it some kind of a joke from the devs?

Most new games need minimum of 12 -16 of ram depending. Don't forget that's recommended specs, so min specs shouldn't be too drastic

Yukfoo1, i disagree, 8gb for new games is minimum and 16gb becoming mainstream. Currently as far as i know there are no games which requires more than 16gb of ram.

different game running on a different engine made by a different company and you want to compare them together? why not just compare them to the first game. at least that would be more plausible.
