It’s been difficult to envisage just what Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown is going to be, or indeed if it was ever going to be released at all when it was first shown as Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age. Crytek has announced Hunt: Showdown is going to be in our hands shortly, launching via Steam Early Access soon. On the basis of the new trailer as well, it’s looking as if this fusion of PvE and PvP could actually end up mighty impressive. Considered us surprised.

The basic gist of Hunt: Showdown is quite a neat one - five teams of two hunters are each given specific monsters to track and kill. Upon taking one of these targets down, the teams a bounty, and therefore also becomes a target for every other hunter still left alive on the map. The aim is to juggle PvE and PvP in an effort to make it alive, as well as with the biggest bounty. Players only get a single life per match, and death is permanent. Upon death, hunters’ experience will be transferred to a new character in their Bloodline, but they’ll lose all earned money and gear.

“We believe strongly that community-driven development is crucial to creating a great online multiplayer experience,” said Hunt: Showdown’s producer, Fatih Özbayram. “An Early Access release will allow us to get Hunt out to players as quickly as possible. To collect feedback, and to work closely with the community to continue to shape the direction of the game.”

“We will be adding more gear, more monsters, more Hunters. More game modes, more traits, crafting, and further map variations throughout Early Access,” explains creative director Magnus Larbrant. “We want to take the time to make Hunt the game we’ve always wanted to play.”

Keep your eyes peeled for Hunt: Showdown launching on Steam soon.

Awesome soundtrack for a great trailer!
Lot of explaining to do though regarding lot of different aspects of the game, but it got my attention for sure.

Crytek neglected PC gaming community. When Crytek went bankrupt, Yerli brothers got what they deserved. And now comes back begging for help from PC gamers. Don't think they should be supported now.

But feels bad for the employees though

I just hope that it can be played in single-player, without any of the multiplayer aspects. I suck at multiplayer shooter games

I have to give it to them, this is the first really good looking game since Crysis 1 they have made, crysis 2 and 3 had god awful graphical design and terrible boring and bland art style and Ryse son of Rome wasn't that much better either.

Though what I've wanted from them is a Crysis 1 style Crysis game, not some multiplayer shooter.

I disagree with you regarding the quality of those games, but I do think Crysis I was the best...

the games themselves were NOT bad, NOT great either, I was referring to the graphical design and art work, obviously both games had top notch graphical quality, but that does NOT make the game look good.
