Ahh, the blissful iron of EA publishing a Star Wars Battlefront 2 Single Player Trailer the day after it ignominiously shut down Visceral Games for working on a single-player Star Wars game. Still, we must use the cards we’ve been dealt, and if Battlefront 2’s campaign is the only single-player Star Wars action we’re getting for the foreseeable future, at least it looks damn good.

You’re probably familiar with the basics for now but for those who aren’t - in Star Wars Battlefront 2, roles are reversed. As Commander Iden Versio, you must burn the Rebellion to the ground and enact revenge for the destruction of the second Death Star and the death of the Emperor.

My one lingering concern is that we’re now about three weeks out from launch and we haven’t actually seen any actual gameplay from the single-player portion of Battlefront. Evidently, the cut-scenes and the production values are top-tier, but we’re still unclear whether this is just a glorified trot through the same multiplayer maps or not. Time will tell, but EA and DICE/Motive are keeping their cards close to their chest for now.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is out on November 17th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can get in on November 14th if you pre-order, or even earlier on November 9th should you stump up for EA’s Origin Access subscription service.

For most of these games from EA if it has a single player mode i will end up buying it because certain games like Battlefield Hardline (which is decent but not that great for multiplayer i find) has a great single player story which i mainly played most of the time when i would install the game again but also i am going to wait on the games release and see if someone uploads like the first 10 min of the story so i would know if it is worth buying now or just wait for a sale.

Yeah let's watch it now as the campaign is the best part of the game.
Multiplayer is Pay to WIN.

So watch the story trailer and make your buying decision only if this interests you.

It would have been the best compromise instead of forcing people to play as a female character just because feminists want it(and some legit female gamers).

Where were you when every Half-Life, every GTA, Call of Duty, Halo, Zelda, Metal Gear Solid, Doom, Wolfenstein and Quake launched. Damn, we needed you then to call this injustice out.

Am I also to understand feminists can't be legit female gamers? Also, what is a 'legit' gamer?

They don't "force" you to play anything; don't buy the game. If you're that uncomfortable playing a video game with a female protagonist, I think that says more about you than anything. It has nothing to do with feminism. Obviously video games are a male heavy demographic, you really think they'd risk sales? No way.

My opinion, based on the trailer, is that the main character is a boring, generic, "an independent woman" character. I have absolutely nothing against a female lead but they are trying too hard to make her a strong, rational female protagonist, who needs no man, who would rather work alone than smart.

I hope no one gets the wrong message. I have nothing against a female lead. I don't care what's the gender or the colour of the protagonist. I have against how this character is handled.

I feel ya
Also, I don't know why EA made a character from what is traditionally the bad side in the star wars universe, the protagonist.

I like the idea of seeing the Star Wars Universe from the other side for once but i do have to agree i don't think the character is going to be that interesting.

Is it because she is a trooper and not a Jedi/Sith character?

Well, I am finishing up the last game in the Assassin's Creed series after replaying the series before Origins comes out (fanboy here), and I must say, despite how short Assassin's Creed: Rogue was compared to the other games (only about 10 hours to complete the story), it was by far one of my favorite. Playing as a Templar, a character from what is traditionally the bad side in the Assassin's Creed universe, was very enlightening and answered a lot of questions I had that hadn't been answered from 3 and 4, and on top of that tied in Unity to the other games fairly well.

Perhaps they could have done this without having a Templar protagonist, but I feel like it would have been more difficult as many of the questions I had were questions about the Templars and what they were doing, as opposed to the Assassins.

I agree, generally it has become a thing to prioritize the gender of the protagonist first, and their heroic character later. If it was the other way around ,I would have no issue with a woman being a main character, like it was in Mirror's Edge for example,or games when you make your own character.

someone please tell me we'll get to play as some character( somewhere in the story) who can manipulate the force and do stuff like hurl buildings on AT-ATs

I am actually happy for once we get to play a star wars game that doesn't involve players using force abilities cause it is fun sometimes but overplayed since more than half of the star wars games made is usually playing as a Jedi and/or a Sith.
Also the main star wars game i love as well and grew up playing non stop is Dark Forces which you're running around with blasters and throwing thermal grenades.

Single player campaign is only thing I'm really interested in at this point with micro transactions plaguing rhe multiplayer, probably going to wait for a deep sale before I pick this up.
