When the PC system requirements for Final Fantasy XV were revealed, it kicked up a right storm on the internet. They were, it's fair to say, dramatically high. Square Enix quickly got out there and said they are subject to change, and those revealed specs were just the ideal hardware to have FFXV looking its finest. A few months have passed and now we have the official Final Fantasy XV PC system requirements. Feel free to breathe a sigh of relief.
Final Fantasy XV Minimum System Requirements

- CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 3.1 GHz or AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz
- RAM: 8 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 2GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon R9 280
- HDD: TBC (170GB Originally Announced)
- DX: DirectX 12
Final Fantasy XV Recommended System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.1 GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz
- RAM: 16 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 6GB Video Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or Radeon RX 580
- HDD: TBC (170GB Originally Announced)
- DX: DirectX 12
There was a bit of a hoo-hah surround the original specs revealed for Final Fantasy XV on PC (via official sources), but since then Square Enix has climbed down for the final specs. We would assume the originally revealed GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GPU recommendation was purely for those looking to play at 4K.
And so we come to the official minimum requirements for FFXV which are extremely reasonable. A 2GB video card is all you'll need, with Square Enix recommending a GeForce GTX 760 or a Radeon R9 280. We're still hopeful that the popular GeForce GTX 750 Ti can run Final Fantasy XV at lower resolutions though. The CPUs required for FFXV are also pretty reasonable. Either the ageing Core i5-2400 or AMD FX-6100 CPUs will do, so we're talking quad-core and up.
As a result of these specs coming from the official Microsoft Windows Store, the minimum stated operating system is Windows 10, and you'll also need DirectX 12. We think it's more than likely that if you buy FFXV from Steam, you'll only need Windows 7 64-bit and DirectX 11 compliance.
The recommended requirements for Final Fantasy 15 are definitely a step up from the minimum but they're nowhere near the recommended specs originally revealed. In fact, they're bang in line with average AAA releases. Slightly beefier CPUs are called for, but anything modern should be able to run FFXV without a hitch. On the GPU front, it would appear these are the recommended graphics cards for playing Final Fantasy XV at 1080p screen resolution. The ever-popular GeForce GTX 1060 will do the job and allow you to crank up the visuals, while AMD users will be fine with an RX 580. Once you push up to 1440p we'd estimate you'll be needing a GeForce GTX 1070 or Radeon RX Vega 56.
Lastly, there's still no finalisation of the installation size of Final Fantasy XV. This was originally claimed to be 170GB but we're hopeful this shrinks down dramatically between now and FFXV's PC launch early in 2018.
As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Final Fantasy XV System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Final Fantasy XV GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Final Fantasy XV Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

What kind of settings should I expect to push at 4K ?
PC Specs
Oh crap! I'm still on Win7!
Welp.. Time to upgrade
PC Specs
170 GB!? How many hours will it take to install? How many weeks will it take to download?
PC Specs
Ah, Windows 10 only? :(
PC Specs

I know. I'm sad too. DX12. Guess I'll have to suffer through Windows 10 on mt main PC also soon. I had to spend more than a month disabling all the bloat and the tweaking the crap default settings in my Laptop. The damn thing started installing updates while I was trying shutdown the PC in the middle of a heavy thundershower. You can't simply turn off auto updates. You need to frikin set the network as metered connection in the network settings panel. WTF! It's so annoying having to go through multiple settings apps on top of the control panel to hunt for settings :(

Feel the same way. I will give the game a chance when I rebuild my system in 2020 then.

Windows 10 is for the Windows store, from Steam you can play it with Windows 7 :)

Oh, right. Sorry, i skipped that part :D

The first announcement was for 4K Ultra which is not actually a good way to make first impression. System Requirement is more about how "reasonable" power your game need than boasting how much it can eat. Good to hear it make more sense now

That looks quite a bit more reasonable then a 1080ti. Still, gotta wait and see. Personally hope the size goes down, my computer is already pretty full and just thinking of how long the download would take makes me groan.
PC Specs
Ultra low
PC Specs
probably on medium then
PC Specs

PC Specs

Even these are a bit too high

They seem very reasonable to me. Those minimum specs were pretty run of the mill even when the PS4 launched four years ago.
