2017 has been kind to most gamers, and PC gamers have had it especially good. Two games came to the platform as exclusives as blew us away - PUBG and Divinity: Original Sin 2. Round 2: Fight 2 - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds v Divinity: Original Sin 2
Early Access titles have got a lot of stick over the years, but PUBG is probably the ultimate example of Early Access done right. It arrived early in the year with little fanfare, rapidly growing into the behemoth it is today. Within a matter of 10 months, Version 1.0 would be out, and it's worldwide popularity was assured. If you haven't got in on the PUBG phenomenon - it's never too late. Championing replayability above all, PUBG is the sort of game you could feasibly play for the entire Christmas holidays and never get bored.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 had a similar fate. It launched in Early Access, yet it's also a fantastic example of what's possible with a Kickstarter funded project. Larian Studios is a heck of a slick ship, and D:OS2 is a heck of an RPG. Playthroughs can be drastically different based on character classes and decisions made, making Divinity: Original Sin 2 the perfect game to relax to over the Chrimbo hols with a big mug of festive tea.
Which game is the better purchase this Christmas though? We'll leave it to you to decide.
