Bandai Namco might have gone and ruined our January plans by going and delaying Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, but they’re making the wait marginally easier with the steady drip feed of new trailers. The latest trailer drills into some combat gameplay, showcasing Ni No Kuni 2’s real-time combat and strategic management systems.
I don’t much of what’s going on, my memories of the original Ni No Kuni’s combat systems have long since floated into the ether, but NNK 2 definitely looks and sounds fantastic. The folks at Level-5 are a real dab hand at cel-shaded artwork, and they somehow even manage to make the fearsome string-led battle music sound cheerful.
Following a two-month delay, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will now be launching on March 23rd for PC and PlayStation 4. I’m still holding out hope that the original makes its way to PC eventually, although it seems increasingly unlikely as we edge nearer to the sequel’s launch. Who knows though, perhaps if No no Kuni 2 sells well enough, Bandai Namco will be prepared to revisit the original.
