It’s not often I’m impressed by the contents of a season pass, but when said contents are a delicious stew of Vietnam War, Martian arachnids and zombies, I’m probably quite keen to have a slurp. Ubisoft has announced the Far Cry 5 Season Pass, and what’s included is an eclectic bunch of left-field adventures.
The first of these is Hours of Darkness, and it’ll have players traveling back in time (and crossing continents) to the Vietnam War and battling against Việt Cộng soldiers. Ever since we had that rush of Vietnam shooters in the early 2000's it’s been a bit barren on that front, so that certainly sounds interesting.
Next up will be Dead Living Zombies, the expansion which probably plays it safest of the bunch. It’ll be the player (or players) against hordes of onrushing zombies in scenarios inspired by b-movies.
And lastly, there will be Lost on Mars. We leave Earth entirely for this one, heading to the Red Planet to get up close and personal with Martian arachnids.
They all sound a little bit crazy and, dare I say it, Blood Dragon-y, so they’re certainly going to be worth keeping an eye on.
Last but not least, console players get an extra treat. Included with the Far Cry 5 Season Pass is a copy of Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, remade for PS4 and Xbox One. It’s a remake of the definitive Far Cry game, so that seems a decent deal, all said and done. PC players fret not, you won’t be left out in the cold - included with the Far Cry 5 PC season pass is a code for the original Far Cry 3. I’m sure there must be someone out there who doesn’t own it. Someone? Anyone?
Far cry 5 and the Season Pass are out on March 27th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
