Ahar it be peg leg time. AMD’s gearing up for next month’s release of Sea of Thieves in record time, commandeering the good ship Radeon and dropping a new Adrenalin Edition 18.2.3 graphics card driver.

Rare’s nautical co-op multiplayer game is the big beneficiary here, and clearly, AMD has been doing plenty of work on performance optimization behind the scenes since Sea of Thieves’ latest closed beta. Performance on the Radeon RX Vega 64 has jumped as much as 29%, while the Radeon RX 580 sees a humongous 39% FPS boost while playing at 1080p. If you’ve ever debated the importance of having the latest GPU drivers, that right there is the proof.

The other game to receive some loving is the recently released Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age remaster. While the performance gains aren’t quite as huge, they are still significant and could push your frames per second up by 13-20%.

Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.3 Highlights

AMD Sea of Thieves

  • Up to 29% faster performance using Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.3 on the Radeon RX Vega 64 (8GB) graphics card than with Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.2 at 3840x2160.
  • Up to 39% faster performance using Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.3 on the Radeon RX 580 (8GB) graphics card than with Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.2 at 1920x1080.

Brass Tactics

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age

  • Up to 13% faster performance using Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.3 on the Radeon RX Vega 56 (8GB) graphics card than with Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.2 at 2560x1440.
  • Up to 20% faster performance using Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.3 on the Radeon RX 580 (8GB) graphics card than with Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.2 at 2560x1440p.

AMD’s Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.2.3 driver is available to download now, either directly from AMD or through your current Radeon Adrenalin driver software installation.

I'm on AMD a Vega 64 at that, and i haven't had a single issue in that game or any other game for that matter. I have had ZERO driver issues in the past 2 years, r9 390 then Vega 64.

I never had a bluescreen thx to a driver before... The only problem I have with AC origins is low gpu usage for some odd reasons like 70-80%.

Yea it is weird, mine is the same way. id love to get 99% usage rather then 80%, I'm on water my GPU isn't going to get hot, the 50fps isn't cutting it for me.

Only issue i have with origins is that Freesync doesn't seem to work right on it, ie i still get crazy screen tearing.

MY BAD. It was CPU, not GPU related. Origins has a problem with FX cpus that causes system crashes. It's fixed by setting 'one core per CU' in the bios. Sorry for the misinformation.

As long as it's fixed it's not misinformation, someone with the same issue might come on here and notice that post and know how to fix it.
