As far as teases go, Marcin Momot’s tweet today is perhaps as cruel as they come. Momot is the community lead at CD Projekt RED, and he’s sent out a message today teasing the appearance of Geralt of Riva in a game that isn’t set within The Witcher universe.
“What if Geralt was going to step out of the @witchergame for the very first time to make an appearance in one of the upcoming games later this year?” wrote Momot, setting minds racing as to what this could possibly mean.
I think we can rule out Gwent because, while not strictly a The Witcher game, it is still set within The Witcher universe.
The second possibility is Cyberpunk 2077, although it still seems highly unlikely that this will even see the light of day in 2018, let alone feature Geralt.
Which would leave a final option - Geralt guest starring in another game. SoulCalibur VI seems to be the current frontrunner of choice here, particularly considering Bandai Namco’s love of cameos. Link, Spawn, Heihachi, KOS-MOS, Yoda, Darth Vader, and Ezio have all appeared in SoulCalibur games at some point, and Geralt could be the perfect fit for its weapons-based fighting. We'd love to hear your thoughts on what other games Geralt could star in though.
Where do you reckon Geralt is going to pop up later this year? Is he going to guest star in another game, or could he even... whisper it... appear in Cyberpunk 2077? Share your suspicions below!
